“Stay here if you are staying at Ubud!”
Reviewed 16 March 2012

This is a great place to stay if you wish to remain away from the beaches and in the serenity of Ubud. It is a bit far away from almost every attraction in Bali, so make sure that you are fine with that before you choose this place.

The resort organizes for free shuttle to Ubud market and town and just a phone call and 10 mins away if you need a pickup from Ubud after a heavy dinner or shopping spree.
They also helped to arrange for taxi service to other destinations in Bali and their recommendation of driver and charges were very good and reasonable. The have complimentary pickup and drop service from and to the airport once you provide them your flight information.

Each villa comes with its own private pool - We initially stayed at a 1 room villa and afterwards got moved to a 2 room villa due to unavailability. The stay was very close to nature - you constantly hear the sound of insects and lizards (and even see few of them) and are always surrounded by cats. The entire area surrounding the resort is very green. The open bathrooms are not a problem.

The entire resort is small (only 9 villas) but the service is very personalized and the staff are super-friendly and courteous. They go out of their way to make you fell comfortable and never hesitate to serve you, and do it with a perennial smile on their face.

The resort has a decent spread of food - breakfast was very good. We being vegetarians though did not have too many options to choose from, but the resort went to a great extent to make great veggie food for our order for a fully vegetarian dinner on one of the days.

The spa in the resort was a very good one - we had a complimentary massage included in our passage but went for an additional one!

We found this resort to be reasonably priced (including the spa) when compared to all the other recommended ones on tripadvisor and not sure how the other ones can be any better!

Unfortunately, we felt a little let down by the general tired-looking state of the place. We had some stained sheets (which they replaced), an old cracked bath tub in an ageing bathroom, an unclean, uninviting pool, etc.
The service was reasonable, but it certainly didn't feel like they were desperate to please. Dinner was lovely, the spa was average, breakfast was enjoyable.

However, we just couldn't find ourselves very comfortable in the place. Perhaps we had a below-average experience: it certainly sounds nice on paper.

This is an overdue review as my family and I stayed at Nefatari in August last year following rave reviews from TA. And my, were these people right! It was an absolute delight staying here starting with the easy and prompt reservation with Made through email. No payment or deposit was required upon reservation however he did request for credit card details that was never charged until our arrival.
We were picked up from our villa in Legian on time in a van and after an hour-ish drive, we arrived at our "home" for the next few nights. Made was at the reception to welcome us with some cold drinks and check-in was prompt.
The villa is amazing, completely with all you would need for a relaxing holiday - private pool with 2 lounge chairs, outdoor dining table and a full sized fridge with soft drinks, teh botol and local snacks. The 2 bedroom were connected with ensuite semi-outdoor toilet, shower area and tub. I say semi because there is a gap between the roof and the wall. Cats sometime wonder into your toilet through this gap as it happened to us a couple of times. Gave me a mighty fright one night when I ventured into the toilet half awake to be faced with a full black cat and green eyes sitting by the sink!
There isn't a big selection for breakfast which was included but everything we ordered tasted great. You are also encouraged to order as much as you want so you can get really full with breakfast alone. Plus breakfast is served to order until 1pm so it's great for days when you want to sleep in. We also ordered dinner in one night and though selection was even more limited, it was good.
Absolutely loved the transport on demand option which is included in the rate for to and fro Ubud travelling. When you needed a ride back, just call the reception and the van will pick you up in no time.

Tips
I wouldn't call Nefatari luxurious. f you're looking for a luxurious villa, this is not the choice for you. For us, it was the perfect value for money villa.
If you're looking for views, this is also not for you because what you get is a villa enclosed with four sides of wall high enough for your own privacy. The only "view" is the sky..
If you want to be within walking distance to Ubud town, then book elsewhere as this is located in a remote area, off Ubud town..although I've seen people walking using the van route which would take at least 30mins brisk walk.
Call the reception to ask what they'll be serving for the complimentary afternoon snacks because the choices change each day. We were served fried bananas (good) and local cookies (stale and tasteless) on 2 separate occasions with fresh juices (good) and local coffee (thin).
Book your slots with the spa as early as possible. Of the 4 days we were there, we only managed to secure an hour of massage which was very very reasonably priced (similar to other spas in Ubud town) considering it is an on-property spa.

Love love Nefatari Villas. We'll be back this August again for a longer stay so finger's crossed that it will be just as awesome!

My girlfriend and I stayed at Nefatari in February 2012 for 4 nights. The hotel consists of several villas (single bedroom and double bedroom) and is located a bit outside of Ubud surrounded by rice fields. The hotel offers a pick up service from the airport in Denpasar or in the area around Kuta such as Seminyak as in our case. We were picked up perfectly on time at our previous hotel and were warmly greeted by our drivers. During the drive to Ubud we even received cold water and had a nice chat. As we arrived at Nefatari we were welcomed with a delicious juice and were shown around the property and our beautiful villa (Villa Man war). The villa has a huge pool, outdoor table and chairs, a mini-bar which was not 'mini' at all (everything in there for free), a big outdoor bathroom, air conditioning, a traditional bed, TV with DVD player and much more. Breakfast can be ordered every morning and will be delivered to the villa or can be taken at the breakfast area. The staff taking care of the villas must be ninjas as we never saw them even though they cleaned our room and the pool every time we left it, even multiple times a day! When we arrived back in the evenings, we found our room as after the check-in and the outdoor lights around the pool switched on which was perfect to take a midnight swim. The hotel offers a free shuttle service to the Ubud village until 10:30 pm which is very reliable.
The hotel is perfect for couples, especially for honeymoon!

My wife and i stayed at Ubud Villa Neferati for 6 days 5 nights, and i cannot fault or complaint about anything,The staff were wonderful and nothing was a problem. Starting from Pick-up at Denpasar Airport till we left 6 days later it was great service, The driving to ubud town and back was also complementary and always on time and never a problem. We stayied at wonderful Villa Mawar which has a great big pool and greta outdoor bathroom and your privacy is very well respected, The breakfast and afteroon tea was great and plenty also complementary, I will always return to Villa Neferati and a big thank you to Ari, Angun, Kikkut and all the girls and staff, really made a wonderfull and enjoyble stay.

Breakfast and afternoon tea brought to your villa and could order tea to villa. Not many choices on restaurant menu but did enjoy the 1 dinner we had there. spa packages good. Staff go out of their way to make your stay a very pleasant one. Highly recommend these villas to all couples, families etc.

Nefatari was the best hotel we stayed in during our trip in Bali. When we came, we couldnt ask for better staffs since they respected our privacy and had a very good conversation with me about the tradition of the Balinese people. The guys who brought our baggages were a bit shocked when we gave them the tips. Guess they are really polite and honest.
We stayed for 4 nights and was really amayed when we saw the room. We really love the private pool and also the complimentary snacks and drinks that they provide inside the refrigerator (pssst they refill them everyday).

We used the shuttle service quite a lot and the service was the best. We never waited for more than 5 minutes to wait them to pick us up!! Thumbs! They also make up the room everytime we're outside the room. We went out for breakfast and the room and private pool are already cleaned and made up! Perfect! Also applied when we went out for dinner. The bedroom also cleaned.

What is quite funny was the fact that Nefatari is located near the forest and real nature so in the middle of the night (3 AM) two geckos were inside of our room and start shouting. I couldnt continue to sleep since they are so big and i am just afraid. I believe this is not Nefatari's fault since I always hear this gecko shouting in almost every place in Bali.

Room Tip: Ask for Villa Mawar. It is newer than other villas and has bigger swimming pool
