We spent 5 nights at Nefatari recently. We booked a 1 bedroom villa but Made upgraded us to a 2 bedroom Villa (Villa Sandat) as they were full.
The staff really make this place. Especially Wayan, Ari, Agung, Ayu and Putu but all the staff with their cheery smiles and greetings.
Villa Sandat has two large bedrooms both with bathrooms. One bathroom is bigger than the other one and has more light and is more of an “outdoor” bathroom but both are excellent. The bed was comfortable. The ceiling fan was not quite enough and we did need to turn on the aircon for part of the night. The swimming pool was great, large enough to do laps. There were two sun-loungers with pool towels, not sure if they would provide more if there were 4 people staying in the villa. The villas are very private, you can close off your gateway from the inside if you wish. Otherwise, the staff ring a bell before coming down to the Villa so you have time to put some clothes on!! The Villa is surrounded by a high wall so there is no view outside so be aware of this.
Breakfast at Nefatari was good with plenty of choices. The lunch and dinner menus are fairly limited but the food was reasonably priced and quite good so it’s worth eating in at least once if you wish. They will bring the food down to your Villa for you where there is a dining table and chairs outside under cover together with a fridge and a sink and little cooktop.
The transfers into and out of Ubud worked well. They will take you wherever you ask in Ubud. We never had to wait more than 10 minutes or so to be picked up in Ubud. At first we pre-arranged a pick up time and place but then started asking the restaurant to call and they were all quite happy to do this for us.
There are now 9 villas at Nefatari, I think they said there are 4 two bedroom and 5 one bedroom. Two of the one bedroom are older style with a smaller plunge pool. I would definitely want the larger pool as we like to do laps but a one bedroom villa would have been fine as we didn’t use the 2nd bedroom at all.
You can go for a pleasant walk through the rice paddies near the villas. We did walk back from Ubud once but it took us about 25 minutes to walk from near the Beggars Bush so from the centre of Ubud would be another 5-10 minutes. There is quite a bit of traffic on the narrow windy road and it is quite hot. Better to do your walking in the rice paddies.
We would highly recommend Nefatari to you and have been telling all our friends about our find!

The stay at nefatari was probably the highlight of our brief stay in Ubud. Private villa with your own big pool, good location with beautiful padi fields within walking distance and town 5min away; clean rooms and bathrooms; very value for money. Way beyond our expectations. You could also have breakfast in your villa as well. Excellent service with very friendly and helpful staff. Free shuttle to anywhere(they sent us all the way to kuta with stops in between). Could you ask for more? Highly recommended for anyone who's looking for accomodation in Ubud. :)

We stayed 6 nights and where lucky enough to be upgraded to a two bedroom villa. The newest villa they have i believe. Villa was fantastic nice and clean and we just loved the pool area. The pool size was great . Food was fantastic, so where the staff and the on demand shuttle service so handy. We also thought it was a nice touch to have complimentary airport transfers which seem to be a rarity these days. 100per cent
satisfied and can't wait to go back.....

We've stayed 10 nights in a two bedroom villa in Nefatari in Ubud in april 2010, during our 1 year trip around the world, with our 2 children (3 and 5).

This hotel is rated a bit low on tripadvisor, but it's rated really high in corean and japanese websites, so it’s just beginning to see tourists from Europe and America.

I think it’s a great value for what you get: fabulous service with personalized approach, to the minute free shuttle service to Ubud and the surrounds, great touristic advices without commission, nice private swimming pools (really needed in the afternoon with the heat and young children), very good restaurant with the possibility to order traditional Balinese food to eat in your villa (duck, goring, seafood, etc) at a good price, good location in the calmness of the rice fields.

Ubud is central in Bali, with excellent restaurants and fabulous traditional shows at night (music, danse, etc), so you can stay here and rent a car with a driver to go around Bali.

We had the pleasure to have the service of a Balinese guide (speaking a good English) for a couple of days travelling around Bali with our driver. Very useful to understand the complex Balinese culture and religion. Driver plus guide: 30-40U$ plus 30U$ per day!

If you plan to stay in Ubud, don’t miss this place!!!

We stayed for 2 days at Nefatari. The service and food was excellent.
Rooms are very big. Aircon at times is not effective but the service, ambiance, swimming pool and helping staff easily will make up for that.
