“Lovely villa, big pool, great food & service”
Reviewed 29 July 2010

We booked the honeymoon package for 2 nights. We stayed at Villa Mawar. It was lovely. The pool was big and we couldn't resist to swim all the time. There's a daybed inside the room with a long desk which we used for meals and for our laptop. Perfect. I liked that the dressing table was big enough. There is wi-fi in the room although the speed is much faster at the reception.

The complimentary set dinner which was included in the package was delicious. We loved the spring rolls. We had it in our villa and they placed candles around the pool. They served the food one at a time even though it meant they had to walk a number of times from the kitchen to our villa. The mini bar is also complimentary. Just drinks and a few snacks.

Although their restaurant is rather small in size, no complaints since most of the time, we dined in-room. Their menu is quite limited in choice but the food was reasonably priced. Breakfast was great. You can order as much as you want. The pancake was good and so are their noodles.

Staff are friendly and helpful. Complimentary transport provided to main town. It's around 10mins by car.

We stayed in another villa previously in Ubud but we prefer Nefatari. We would love to go back soon.

Going to Bali every year we always stay at a different villa or resort, that was until we found the Magical Nefatari Villas in Ubud last year. Having just returned from an unbelievable 2 weeks in Bali, once again our highlight was spending our second week back at the very beautiful Nefatari Villas. If you are looking for a big western resort with lots of things happening and want to spend time with a lot of other tourists, and you love the hustle & bustle of Kuta, then you will hate Nefatari and infact will dislike Ubud itself very very much also. However, if you are looking for a very Balinese, very quiet, very romantic, very beautiful, very cultural experience, with lovely Balinese hospitality in an amazing Villa, then you will absolutely LOVE NEFATARI!!! The hardest thing about Nefatari is leaving. The Villas are extremely spacious, all with Brilliant pools, are extremely private, and furnished beautifully. The loving hospitality you are shown from the moment you are picked up to the time you are dropped of is amazing. You are made to feel like part of the Family.
Nefatari is located approx 5 mins on a bike to the centre of Ubud, Made' at Nefatari organised a motor bike for us again for about $6 a day which costs approx $2 to fill up. All in all I cannot fault Nefatari, which is hard to admit because i am an extremely fussy person by nature, and Value for money, we have not found anywhere in all of Bali that can compete. Happy holiday, you won't be disappointed!

We stayed at Nefatari for only two nights and we most regretted we had not stayed longer!!

We stayed in other villas/hotels during our 9-day holiday in Bali and Nefatari was overall, by some distance, the best of them all.

The villas are decorated in traditional Balinese style which adds a lot of charm. The quality of the service could not be any better. The staff was most helpful and did anything possible to make our stay most pleasant. They offered to drive us back and forth from Ubud center anytime we needed. The menu in the mini restaurant is rather short in choice BUT excellent in quality and very reasonable in price (compared to other hotels/villas in the area).

Even though we had a very early flight back, the hotel staff was only too happy to drive us to the airport even if at such an early hour. Moreover, they even offered full breakfast at 5:45 am !!

We stayed in other nice villas in the Ubud area but Nefatari really comes on top based on good balance price/quality but specially because of the quality of the service.

We will most certainly opt for Nefatari next time we travel to Bali. Our best regards and most sincere thanks to everyone in Nefatari.

The Nefatari Villas are quite a way outside the main part of Ubud but this can be reached easily by the free and on demand shuttle that the Nefatari Villas provide- which is great and I've stayed at other resorts equally distant from the main part who have not provided this- and if you want to walk, it's about a 25 minute stint, quite pleasant, past rice fields and hilly streets and popping out by the fabulous Blanco musuem. The villas provide a decent choice of breakfast, which can be had either at the dining area or privately in your villa. The villa I had , Jepun, was lovely- excellent bathroom area, outside but entirely private, very spacious room, the air con was a little hard to access as it was very high up and required standing on the wooden trunk at the foot of the bed and craning upwards with the remote, but anyway..The Nefatari Villas apparently support the RSPCA equivalent in Bali and there are a lot of cats there that have been given a decent place to live, including lovely little Fiona who frequents Villa Jepun and Villa Mitea...The private pool is also a nice touch, but the pebble-dashed steps can be very slippery around the passages between the villas and on the steps at reception- be very careful when it is raining. The spa facilities, massage etc, are well established and decorated strikingly with the pebbles- very good value for massages, I found. All in all, an excellent place to stay.

Like a lot of people, we too choose to stay at the Nefatari based on what previous travellers had written. And of course they were all on the money. The service from all is excellent and you never got the feeling that there was any agenda other then making you feel welcome which is a relief in itself when visiting Bali .

The setting for the villas are very private and calming and as many people have mentioned, being a short distance out of town certainly is no problem as the drop off/pick up service is great.

My partner and I had booked 2 nights and ended up staying an extra night. We we're picked up from our hotel in Bali and have to admit our driver was waiting for us because of course we were down the road getting in some last minute shopping, well I was eating haha. Although noon was given as our pick-up time and being prompt as they are in Bali our driver did arrive an hour early but of course nothing was a problem.

Breakfast served at your villa, outside next to the pool was very nice and you could order as much or as little as you wanted.

For value for money the Nefatari is the best place that we have stayed at on our frequent travels as the service and setting far surpases in my opinion the cost to stay. And in ending,we were upgraded from a one bedroom villa to the 2 bedroom villa (Villa Sandat) which was greatly appreciated. In terms of Ubud there are many places to stay but I could not recommend the Nefatari Exclusive Villas more highly.

We scheduled our trip to stay 2 nights in Ubud, and 2 nights in Seminyak with our 2 small children. After arriving at these villas, we quickly realized we had made a poor decision to leave so quickly. The villas are very nice, large, and private to fit all four of us, and they kindly threw in 1 extra bed for our 5 yr old to sleep in. Breakfast is brought to the villa each morning, and we were impressed with great selection and taste. We had arranged a private driver for each day, but we realized that we shouldn't have for the first day since the villa will provide free of charge transportation to various areas of Ubud, and you can call them for pickup anytime.
The highlights are 1) comfortable/clean/large villa, 2) private pool for the kids, 3) great breakfast, 4) proximity to Ubud, 5) incredible customer service, and 6) private setting of each villa.

We booked a villa here on the basis of the Tripadvisor review and, with one night left of our 5-night stay, we can honestly say this is a fantastic place to stay.

Staying on Villa Cempaka, we have a large well looked after room, an outside bathroom, a covered external dining area and sunbathing area, and the large garden, and outdoor pool. Faultless bar a slight drip from the air conditioning unit (but rarely used as the fan does the job so well). Every mod-con you can want is here. Descriptions in previous posts are generally accurate, so I won't repeat them.

Nefatari Villas is located just outside Ubud, either 5 minutes by car or 20-25 minutes on foot. We did have some concerns about this location, but these should be ignored; if you don't fancy the walk, which takes you through Ubud, a local village (watch out for the ladies carrying fruit on their heads) and past padi fields, just ask the team to give you a lift. Whenever we turned up we never needed to wait for more than 5 minutes for one of the People Carriers to be sorted out to take you wherever you want to go in Ubud, and when you've had your meal or want to return back, simply ask the restaurant/cafe to call the villas, and a car would be with you in 15 minutes. You soon realise that the service is amazing and there for you.... this personal service is second to none, and something we have not come across anywhere apart from those 5 star hotels where you are paying through the nose (in fact, we noticed that many of the bigger hotels/villas seemed to charge people for trips in to Ubud!). Tomorrow we are off to a local attraction outside Ubud, but the villa are driving us there, admittedly for an additional 15,000 rupiahs, but when that equates to £1.20 and saves the need to negotiate with local taxis, it makes it worthwhile.

Breakfast, which can include Indonesian food or fantastic pancakes with fresh juice or coffee, can be served in your villa or in the restaurant overlooking the central garden, from 7am to 1pm. Lunch and dinner can also be served in both locations, and whilst is extra, was great when we tried it.

If you want to try out a local activity, just mention it to the staff, and they will suggest options: They do say that if you ask them for prices they will give you the real cost, minus their commission. These seems to have been borne out: we saved over 20% on rafting (highly recommended) today by booking it through Agung.

Highly recommended all round...
