“Exotic, peaceful, magical Bali hideaway!”
Reviewed 15 April 2014

Komaneka @ Tanggayuda exceeded all our expectations! Set in exotic lush tropical setting we stayed in a valley pool villa (119) which was simply decadent. Lucky for us, on request, we were moved to room 106, to give us magnificent breathtaking valley views! Both rooms were beautifully decorated with stunning wooden features, comfy romantic King bed & luxury bathroom( including beautiful deep bath )
Nothing was ever too much for the Komaneka staff!! We felt very special & were given 100% attentive & friendly service!
We will definitely return to Komaneka! .... love love love

We have visited Bali on 20 occasions and have enjoyed many fine hotels. The Komaneka at Tanggayuda is without a doubt one of the very finest boutique resorts anywhere! The magic ingredient that sets it apart is absolutely it's staff! They are more than just well trained, they are friendly and sincerely nice! We loved our Deluxe Valley View Pool Villa! Just loved our visit!

Loved Komaneka Tanggayuda Resort as we had a villa room that looked over the jungle. It's a very quiet resort and built like a Balinese Village. Very comfortable beds and good layout of the room and style is very nice.
The things that let the Resort down: Very slow, inconsistent service in the restaurant that drove us crazy by the last day. The wait staff bring a complimentary welcome drink after we were half way through a bottle of wine. They don' t clear dirty or extra plates before they bring meals so there is this massive pile up of plates, glasses and side plates and no room for the meal to be placed down.
The day spa is the noisiest area of the Resort - the massage style has lots of useless slapping moves (cupping with a loud noise) on every part of your body that every other spa guest having a treatment can hear. The Spa reception phone can be heard throughout the entire spa so don't go for some rest and relaxation as its a wakeup call and a bit of a slapping! The worst resort spa I have ever been to. CHANGE YOUR MASSAGE STYLE KOMANEKA
The resort is quiet and the pool areas are nice with beautiful views however they don't tell you when they are going to spray the resort with fogging for mozzies and it is dreadful smell obviously toxic and they should tell guests so you can stay in your room or leave the resort at fogging time. we were in Reception the first time and there was no where to escape as it is an open area. The second time we were laying around the pool and trapped as they fogged between our room and the pool first the around the pool.
There is a 'bar' on the roof that is NOT a bar. We waited 25 minutes for our drinks to be sent up from the kitchen and they were warm when we got them. Its a beautiful roof top area overlooking the tropical valley and perfect for sunset but they should put a good bar in as they would make some money especially if the serve drinks faster.
We would go back to this resort but probably eat out more in Ubud.
There were only couples at this resort which we loved, finally found a resort that is boring for kids and not the type of place families would like, perfect for couples.

Room Tip: Perfect if you need to slow down as the service is very slow so you have to get used to it.

This place is a true gem! I've been all over the world and seen some of the best resorts and hotels throughout Asia, Australia, Europe, and North America. This place stands out as one of my absolutely favorites. While nearly 30 of the 34 rooms/villas were occupied it felt like we were the only guests on the property. My wife and I felt like billionaires who rented the entire resort for ourselves. The hotel is beautiful, private, serene, and our private villa (#122) was built in the past year. It was totally Balinese yet modern and complete with marble floors, high-end hardwear, powerful air conditioning, TV, AppleTV, huge indoor shower, awesome outdoor shower connected to indoor shower, large tub, huge bathroom with his/her sinks and vanities, and completely private backyard with large pool. Best of all we were completely private even when standing on the deck / pool.

Yet even with these incredible amenities, grounds and extreme attention to detail, by far the best part of the property, by far the best part about the property is the staff. They are the friendliest and most sweet hospitality employees I have ever met. Each one of them had a glowing smile and a genuine desire to help you in any way. Its WAY more than just a job for them. They have become our friends. Rudi in particular made our trip special but there were so many others whose names we don't remember but whose smiles we will never forget. They made Komeneka our home for 5 nights.

One night we got back from town at about 4 o'clock and never left the property, didn't visit a restaurant on property and didn't order room service. We got a call to our room at about 9pm to make sure everything was OK and to see if we wanted any food. They knew we hadn't eaten and genuinely cared to make sure we were alright and didn't need any help.

Each day we got a FREE breakfast delivered to our room that was truly amazing! It had everything...eggs, waffles, toast, fruit, OJ, smoothie, muffins, danish, bacon etc!!

We visited Komeneka Bhisma and Monkey Forest and Tanggayuda was by far our favorite. The architecture is modern and lighter in color which lends to a very Balinese feeling but in a clean and renewing way.

When we come back we would like to meet Mr. Komeneka himself. We hope that he is able to bring each of his staff members on his famous "trips to Singapore" to study the art of high-end hospitality.

Thank you for the most amazing honeymoon experience at a price that was very fair.

Room Tip: #122 is recently completely renovated, high up on hill, and totally private.

We loved our stay at komaneka. Everything was taken care of to the finest details. To the bath filled with flowers, constant cookies, a shuttle bus into town and a welcome honeymoon cake. We did not have a worry in the world. The staff were lovely and always made sure we were happy. The grounds are beautiful and we were lucky enough to have a villa with a pool that over looked lovely greenery!

When you arrive at this resort you are told that when you stay here you become part of the Komaneka family. It feels like you are enveloped in a huge hug and when you leave a little part of you stays behind.
I cannot express in this review how special this place is. It is a wonderful couples destination, completely private with very discreet and efficient service.
The pool villas are stunning, infinity pool with personal sunloungers and outdoor relaxation / dining pergolas. Beautiful bedroom with seating, huge TV and dining area. The bathroom is amazing with outside stone bath, overlooked by statues and lovely complimentary smellies- bath oils, sea salts, lotion etc.
There is a shuttle bus into Ubud which takes about 15mins but taxis are very cheap if you want to come back before the bus. Any other trips can be booked through the hotel. Totally recommend the cycle trip down from the volcano. Awesome.
There are 4 Komaneka hotels in the group and as a guest you can use the facilities in all 4 so if you fancy a swim after a hot shopping morning in Ubud, pop into the one on Monkey Forest Rd and have a swim or afternoon tea with is complimentary to all guests every day.
We were heartbroken to leave this hotel as we didnt feel we had enough time here. We will definitely be back, after all, we are family!!

I am not one to leave reviews, but I could not let this one pass - this hotel is exceptional. The villa, the service, the staff & facilties are beyond fantastic.

Not sure where to start - staff are the friendliest and most helpful you will cone across. If was my partners birthday and they brought him out a personalised cake at breakfast, wrote happy birthday in rose petals on our bed on the villa, gave us a framed photograph of us with the birthday cake as a leaving present at checkout - we didnt asl for any of this, it was unbelievable how thoughtful they were. One of the only hotels in Bali where staff refuse tips, you have to talk them into excepting , unbelievable as they do such an outstanding job.

Villa is luxurious, extremely modern furnishings, apple TV, expresso maker, infinity pool overlooking the valley, huge bathroom with lovely bathtub. When you check in they leave you lovely little gifts in the room (massage oil, bath salts) and yummy fresh cookies.

They do a beautiful turndown service in the evening as well as servicing the room in the morning - but you will never see them, they track when your out at breakfast & dinner to service the room so you will never be disturbed.

Free afternoon tea everyday wherever you want it, in your villa, by the pool etc.

Dinner in the hotel is beautiful & extremely reasonably priced - complimentary snacks & cocktails. Breakfast is amazing and plentiful.

We will without a doubt return to this hotel, it feels like family , we were only there 2 nights and everyone knew our names.

Main pools are beautiful, breathtaking views from the infinity pool.

I really could talk about this hotel all day - save yourself time if your looking for something special - book it!
