Ma family and I stayed in 2 different tastefully decorated spacious rooms. The rooms were located in a Balinese style house surrounded by a beautiful and very well maintained garden. The bathrooms had a special touch since half of the roof was open, we could see the sky while taking a shower.
The staff was very helpful, kind and discreet at the same time. They all speak some English and the manager speaks it extremely well! She was always ready to help us; they were all truly wonderful.
A very tasty breakfast was included; there was a nice choice.
The swimming pool was very beautiful.
My husband and I took a massage each and it was the best one I had during my stay in Bali (we stayed 3 weeks in total in Bali). The small massage parlour was set outside in a beautiful and peaceful setting, the music was nice and the pressure of the massage was perfect. I just wished I had taken more than one message while I was there but we only stayed 3 nights - too short!
There is a really nice small restaurant/café place 5 minutes walk from the hotel called Cafe Vespa; they served some european/asia fusion food, all organic!! Very tasty and very good prices.
I would definitely recommend going to this hotel...If we go back to Bali, we'll definitely stay there again.

My girlfriend and I had the pleasure of staying at Taman Rahasia for 5 nights. From the moment we walked in to the secret garden (at 10pm of an evening) we were greated with warm smiles, cool towels and a refreshing welcome drink. We were asked to confirm which days we wanted to attend the cultural show, have our balinese dinner for two and indulge in our day of pampering- all of which were included in our accommodation package which we booked directly with the hotel. As the hotel does not have any twin rooms we were more than comfortable sharing a king bed. Rooms were clean, beds and pillows very comfy. Garden was a tropical balinese oasis. Open-air bathroom took our breath away. The next 5 days were pure bliss. Food was delicious and spa treatment was magical. 5 min car ride to central Ubud ($3AUS) I can not recommend this boutique hotel more highly. It exceeded my expectations.

Sometimes if I can't sleep, I think of Taman Rahasia, a place where I have had ten very happy days. It is a 15 minute beautiful walk through the rice fields away from the village of Ubud. Taman Rahasia is a small hotel: just a few pavillions in a lush walled garden. The rooms are very pleasant, clean and esthetically pleasing. The hotel is well run and the staff is helpful. The in house spa is good and affordable. Meals were excellent. There are certainly more stunning, more hip and more exciting hotels in Ubud, but if you can appreciate the piece and the small scale of Taman Rahasia, it is a very good choice. When we wanted to attend a special ceremony in the main temple complex, the hotel staff helped us dress, and even lent us some garments. When we invited a friend who lives locally, the staff coked us a perfect private banquet...

Room Tip: I think all rooms are good, but we payed a little extra for a deluxe room and would do exactly the s...

Wow what a wonderful 3 night stay at Taman Rahasia. My family & I had 2 rooms upstairs mid October 2012. The staff was amazingly courteous and prompt in making the reservations just a few weeks prior to our stay. No deposit required, which was nice. However, upon checkout, they do not take credit cards. Upon arrival, they were wonderfully helpful in planning our itinerary of fun things to do in central Bali...bike tour of Mount Batur, elephant safari, river rafting trip, walking map of central Ubud and airport transportation. All were arranged by the staff at Taman Rahasia upon check in. Also they arranged for taxis to pick us up and give us tours of the local area. All the drivers were very friendly and accomodating.
The bedroom and bathroom were huge...clean and nicely appointed. Air-conditioning and ceiling fan in each room were an added bonus given the heat and humidity at the time we were in Ubud. Breakfast was delicious as was their coffee and afternoon tea. The pool, grounds and dining area (located outside) are magically beautiful. Wonderfully landscaped and attended too. The entire property is in a very quiet area which was very well received!
Their outdoor spa was a delight. Had a wonderful massage and pedicure with just a day notice. The walk to central Ubud was really nice too, about 15-20 minutes thru side streets. Overall, a perfect place to stay and would highly recommend. I look forward to coming back hopefully soon!

Located at Penestanan, a little bit off site from center of Ubud, though
I do not find a word rather than 'Fantastic'.
People were warm, atmosphere was welcoming.

We stayed 3 nights in the 2nd floor of the hotel,
outside the room was veranda with a couch,
in the night we could just relax and almost slept
listening bugs and birds were singing,
that was more than luxury hotel and resorts.

There were 3 choices in the breakfast,
I recommend 'Banana french toast' with Balinese coffee.
It is always good to feel the air of the land to
have dishes of the land.

The only disadvantage was hot water runs out in 20minutes
when taking a shower, I did not know why.

Taman Rahasia was literally True 'Secret Garden',
I would definitely back to Taman Rahasia in Penestanan.

We stayed at Taman Rahasia after 3 nights in 2 different bungalows in the heart of Ubud. We were looking for something not too expensive but with the quality, cleanliness and service we'd been missing. Taman Rahasia filled the bill perfectly. Beautiful gardens are common in this part of Bali, but their combination, with good looking furniture, well designed newer buildings, faultless maintenance, and within a minute walk of rice fields put it on a par with resorts costing twice or three times the price. I only wish I could have stayed longer.

We couldn't find fault with the rooms (perhaps a squeaky bathroom door was the tiny exception). The feelings were comfortable, clean, safe without being fussy. The service in the outdoor restaurant was sometimes a bit inattentive, but was always friendly and ernest. The inclusion of a morning and afternoon tea/coffee was a nice treat.

We will return.

Found this on the internet before we left. Quality communication during the booking process and declined a deposit. They arranged a car to collect us from the airport (one and a half hours drive and cost about $A40). The drive itself was an interesting introduction to Bali's diversity.

The drive up the small lane way to the "Secret Garden" was like a surprise party - a walled lush sanctuary with small pathways and lovely buildings (see photos). Beautiful room (see photos) with large Balinese bed and garden bathroom - yes, shower in the fresh air (upstairs rooms have indoor bathrooms if you prefer. Breakfast included and morning and afternoon tea.

A pleasant walk to main street of Ubud (20 minutes through rice paddys and local houses) . There is a free daily shuttle(once a day) or a private car (at tiny cost - about $A3) can be arranged at any time. The compound was so serene - it was lovely to be away from the hussle and bustle.

They arranged a private car to take us to the Lake and the volcano. We stopped in spevcialist areas like the woodcarvers, the painters, the stone carvers, the silver smith and did a tour of a local coffee and spice grower. The volcano and lake is a must see but do that first. If you see the sights on the way up the view may be clouded over in the mid to late afternoon.

The driver stayed in the hotel cartpark whilst we changed then took us to a recommended restaurant in main street Ubud and waited for us a took us home. He was our driver and guide from noon til after 9pm - total cost $A80!

No phone, no TV and no room service - did not miss any of them.

Room Tip: Small compound. Downstairs rooms have nice outdoor bathroom but you can hear people upstairs if they...
