We arrived at the Lumbung Sari Ubud Hotel after travelling in remote parts of Indonesia and found a really lovely, welcoming and relaxing space. Upon arrival we were booked in quickly and upgraded to a deluxe room with a private balcony.
The room was cool with air-conditioning working perfectly, well appointed, clean and with a large bathroom.
The surrounds of the hotel are small, but well maintaned and pretty. We found the staff to be very helpful, friendly and looked after us very well indeed - good sense of humour too!

We were staying five nights and planned to visit various locations around East Bali, bypassing the worst of the traffic by hitting the road early each morning. We were a little surprised breakfast didn't begin until 8am but with an order placed the evening before, we were brought breakfast to our balcony each morning. Due to the late start of the kitchen, the night duty manager prepared and cooked our breakfast to arrive at 4.30am each day, which was much appreciated by us.

Of course I wanted to get online soon after we arrived but found the wifi wasn't connecting, I queried it with the staff and was told they had a current issue and that I would be able to get a connection from the lobby. Later that evening I did go to the very small lobby (with one bench for seating) and went online. The next day, staff sought me out to tell me the wifi issue was resolved and sure enough, I didn't have any further wifi problems.

We thoroughly enjoyed the hotel, room, environment and the terrific staff and would happily recommend the hotel.

DOWNSIDE
On our final day as we were checking out, my credit card wasn't accepted by their eftpos machine, so we tried another one - also not accepted. At first they said there was something wrong with my card which clearly wasn't the case as I'd used it just 30minutes earlier on a small purchase. And if that was true, then my other card would work and that wasn't accepted either.

I asked them to process the card manually - they couldn't. They kept asking for cash, cash, cash. It was rather annoying because credit card acceptance was advertised and as we were leaving for the airport soon I had to use the nearby ATM. This ATM only allowed a certain amount of cash to be withdrawn each time which meant I had to withdraw cash in about 6 different transactions and as result incurred fees each time, quite a ridiculous situation I thought.
I find it a bit strange that a thriving hotel such as this does not have alternative means of paying the bill if their eftpos machine drops out.
So my advice is to give yourself enough time at checkout to get to an ATM and preferably one that allows larger withdrawal amounts! :-)

Room Tip: We enjoyed the deluxe rooms on the way from the lobby to the pool.

We came to Ubud for 9 nights to relax and get some peace and quiet. We had a party of 4 and so we booked the Villa, which is located outside of town and the main buzz.

Lumbung Sari arranged for a driver to pick us up (free of charge!) and drop us off whenever we wanted, seeing the drive was roughly 15 minutes (with the crazy Bali traffic) from the hotel to the Villa (and vice versa).

When we arrived it was such a sigh of relief, the Villa is tucked away in rice fields and surrounded by gorgeous nature. The only thing you will hear are the crickets and occasional tokkek.
The beds were comfortable, the Wifi (free) was always working and the butler is a gem.

There is the option to have breakfast in the villa (which the hotel will deliver to you), or to get picked up at a time you see fit and brought to the hotel to eat there. The food was always amazing (do try the banana pancakes!!).

The staff at Lumbung Sari blew us away with their kindness, we have nothing but praise for them. We have traveled a lot and rarely did we come across hotels where we felt like we simply staying over at a friend's place.

We were very sad to go home and look forward to return as soon as we get the chance!

Room Tip: If you travel with 2 couples, do book the Villa, the serenity and luxury is amazing.

A lovely oasis leading off Monkey Forest Road.We had a superior room in the newer part which was very comfortable, clean and airy..A very good breakfast was served around the beautiful warm inviting pool area...It is owned by a Balinese and staffed by locals who were all extremely efficient, friendly and helpful...We would certainly love to stay here again.

Room Tip: The new superior rooms are well worth the extra.

We had a comfortable stay in Lumbung Sari Cottages.

The plus:
Friendly staff, great location in walking distance of all sights in Ubud as well as restaurants and bars, breakfast food was great (first day only though), beautiful balinese style, good size, complimentary daily water, comfortable bed, clean

Downs:
Bit hard to communicate due to the language skills, it takes a bit longer, but not impossible, authenticity comes with a prices, doors are beautiful, but there are still spaces were insects can come in the room, airconditioning was bit week, no shower curtain, so all the bathroom would get wet, including the toilet. the toilet was place on a higher plate (20 cm) but weird to sit on. Quality of breakfast was not as good during the week as it was in the weekend, small swimming pool. 3-4 chairs around the pool to lay on

Good value for money, great location., don't expect big resorts in Ubud.

We stayed at the villa for 3 nights, we are sorry now that we hadn't booked for longer as it was out of this world. We checked in at the hotel, which is right in the center of Ubud, after a refreshing welcome drink we were transported to the villa, which was just outside the main town. The villa stood in the middle of the paddy fields and didn't look anything special from a distance. On arrival we were given a tour of the villa. Our mouths fell open. The bedrooms, with each their own huge bathroom, were fantastic. Big rooms with a desk and sitting area as well as a huge double bed. The bathrooms had, each, a separate shower which stood in the open air as it was as there was no ceiling above them, so that you had the feeling that you were showering in the middle of nature. The living area was also phenominal with everything that you would expect from a true 5 star villa. When the house butler opened the doors, which were the whole side of the living room it revealed a fantastic swimming pool that was only a meter away giving the effect that it was part of the living room. The view out was tremendous. We were now looking out at the rear of the villa which looked out on a jungle of coconut trees and banana plants. Everything was so sereen. We were also given a mobile phone that was a direct line to the hotel manager so that we could contact him directly if we needed anything. When ever we wanted to go anywhere we phoned him and he sent a luxury car to pick us up, no matter where we wanted to go, and when we wanted to go back home would phone again and we would then be picked up and taken back to the villa. As I mentioned earlier we had a live in butler, who had his own living area in the cellar, and he did all the clearing and washing up. We had the choice of either having our breakfast brought to the villa or being picked up to eat at the hotel, we chose the second option. The breakfast buffet had both Indonesian and western food and was served and cooked by Balinese girls who couldn't do enough to please the guests. The whole atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. All in all we were made to feel very special for the time we stayed and we will certainly come back again.

Room Tip: Every room is exclusive and luxurious. Sun on terrace/swimmingpool until 3pm.
