Four of us had a great time staying here. The view and swimming in the river were two of many highlights. The museum is quite stunning. I have lived in China for the last 6 years and was totally blown away by his collection. Check out the shields and bows in the bar too. The owner, Peter, has the most amazing story. All round highly recommended. Stay there...

We stayed here for 4 nights and found that the biggest problem with the Tana Mera was that we just did not want to leave ! This meant we did less sightseeing that we should have. Never mind - we had a great time and the Tana Mera is a fantastic place to relax and recuperate from life on the road.

We stayed in both studio and villa accommodation and both are brilliant. The studio 6 did not have the view but the room was a work of art and very, very spacious. Bali Villa 3 had an amazing view and its deck was just the best place to sip a cocktail as the sun set over the jungle opposite. The bathroom in the villa was not the best but more than acceptable.

If you do come and stay here make sure you go to see the incredible antique collection, Simply breathtaking ! Take time to walk down to the river below as well.

Thank you Peter and your wonderful staff for the highlight (accommodation wise) of our trip through Asia.

Oh - and the breakfasts are fantastic !

A true gem !

We stayed in Timor cottage that was perfect. The pool(s) and staff here were fantastic. It's a beautiful property set away from the hustle of Ubud. They have a free shuttle that will take you to town anytime you want to go. The owner had lots of great advice on Ubud as well which was very helpful. We stayed 3 nights with our 6 month old and the staff were amazing with him. Breakfast was great but didn't eat lunch or dinner so can't comment. Loved this place...best pool in Bali.

We booked a studio but we had the nice surprise to have been upgraded in this luxurious villa. The villa was just perfect. Private amazing pool with views on the jungle, private jaccuzzi, amazing room nicely decorated with antique furniture and beautiful bathroom with views on the jungle again. We loved the location because it is outside ubud, about 10 min drive but the hotel offer free shuttle. Ubud is very touristic and crowded but Tanah Merah is located north of Ubud in the jungle. There is a river we can access from the hotel and the walk to go there is quite nice. It is also a great place if you want to rent a scooter and explore the area. There are beautiful rice terraces, waterfalls and temples near by. The breakfast is just amazing and can be served in the room. I dream of this place and would like to go back one day.

This is a nice hotel with caring staff. We stayed in Studio 4 which was big, clean, comfortable and with all the usual facilities including tea/coffee making facilities. The hotel was well out of Ubud which was no bad thing. They provided a free on demand shuttle service to Ubud. The hotel itself was well maintained, we particularly enjoyed the tranquil location and landscaping. Staff were excellent. Our room was cleaned twice a day including fresh towels and turn down service. Breakfast was good and generous helpings, though by the 4th day more choice would have been nice. What was a real pity in my opinion was the main pool area. It could have been just stunning but the view from the main swimming pool was greatly impaired by the roof of one of the restaurants. We never saw this restaurant open and wondered about its use. If it were my hotel I'd be demolishing it asap and restoring what must be a truly magnificent view down the river valley from the infinity pool! Even though we weren't that far from reception, the wifi signal was very poor.

Room Tip: We stayed in one of the studios which was very spacious. It was quiet except for the neighbours roosters crowing early in the morning. The villas looked fantastic and some had their own pool. More villas were being built and existing ones being renovated. I'd def go back and stay in one of those villas next time.
