“Good for the price at this time of year”
Reviewed 10 September 2013

I have stayed here a few times...at this time of the year it's quiet and prices are reasonable plus it's not busy.
Good location...parking if you have a car a total bonus...great breakfast, nice garden , pool could do with a bit of a clean but all round good. Friendly staff !

Room Tip: Upstairs...a lot cooler

Yes, the hotel located is superb, with a vast and beautiful garden, a big fruit bat, but there is nothing else!

I kinda know what I am getting into when I book the hotel after reading all the reviews but I have not much choice as my preferred hotel Greenfield is fully booked. So, I booked a superior room as opposed to a standard room, hoping that i will get a better room. My friend has booked a standard room.

It seems that all the superior rooms are upstairs. The superior room and the standard room furnishing is exactly the same, I realised that I paid S$20 more for a old, not-so-clean bathroom instead of a shower for the superior room! Totally not worth it! All the room is furnished the same way. Very dated and bathroom is very very bare. There is only a small bar of soap given, no hair dryer.

The first room that we check-in is located next to the kitchen. At 7am, we could hear the jucier and all the chatting in the kitchen! and the water pressure was so low that it even has no water at all at somepoint! We complained and was told that because all guest shower at the same time in the morning! We asked to be moved to another room. The second room is also unstairs, further away from the kitchen. We did away with the noise problem and do not seem to have the water pressure problem the next morning as well.

Breakfast venue is nice, we didn't eat at the restaurant but in a bale near the pool But breakfast served in basic and non-appetitizing.

In summary, I think you pay for the location rather than anything else by staying in this hotel.
I will not stay in this hotel again.

This Hotel is in a great location, step out of the front gate and you're in the centre of hustle and bustle of Ubud (laundry opposite and restaurant next door, mini mart 5 doors up and ATM 20m away!). It's about 5 minutes walk to Monkey Forrest, and about 10 minute walk to the football field along Jalan Monkey Forrest.
The staff are not your usual gentle Balinese souls, the reception guys can be quite abrupt, and the waitress in the restaurant was actually quite rude. But the ground staff (who wander round all day!) are very smiley and chatty.
There is a resident bat, which is cool if you like that sort of thing.
The grounds are beautiful (a few little attentions to details could've been worked out). and the pool is adequate. Small but never very busy, cleanish, probably just a little old looking.
Still, it's cheap, so can't really complain. Good value for money.
The rooms vary. We stayed in two different rooms, the first was on the ground floor near reception and quite dark and damp, and old, needed some work (their idea of a curtain rail holder was banging a hole into the plasterwork to hold it!). But we loved the shower head that lights up! The second room was further down the garden and upstairs and substantially better. Clean, airy, light, and better finish altogether.
Overall I'd say it is a good option, although we probably wouldn't stay there again especially as there's so much choice in Ubud.

Room Tip: Maybe ask for an upstairs room.

I booked through www.Balihotelguide.com they were extremely helpful in helping me find a hotel that suited my needs. This hotel is in a good location. Has airconditioning. The internet from the rooms is not great. However the staff is so friendly and I believe this hotel is great VFM.

Room Tip: Get a room near the restaurant so internet access is better.

I had checked into this hotel for 3 days after being taken in by its beautiful flower garden, koi ponds and lotus pools and stayed for 10 days. The room was big and clean, well ventilated with lots of natural light. My bed was a beautiful white four poster bed with white gauzy mosquito net, quite pretty but might not be very sensible. Thankfully it was not required. The shower worked well and the room was cleaned daily with fresh linen. I loved the pool and my little garden patio. The Wifi worked pretty good but was non existent in the rooms towards the back. Though situated in the heart of busy Monkey Forest Road, it was quite and peaceful with super friendly and helpful staff. There is also an information sheet about the weekly dance programs at the reception and sometimes the staff help arrange free drop to the theater. The breakfast scene was pretty dull, although the fruit bat Charlie was very cute and I did not try the restaurant as it looked a bit gloomy to me. But there are plenty of eating options, good cheap warungs, pharmacies, super markets, shopping, spa, tour agencies, motor bike and car rentals nearby. Over all a wonderful experience and will come back again.

Room Tip: The pool facing rooms are the best with lovely view and strong Wifi

We stayed 3 nights. As backpackers we chose this hotel once arrived in Ubud. After we visited the rooms we agreed on the price. The service is friendly, polite and discreet. You will be proposed some interesting activities. The breakfast is included. The Mosquito Net around the bed might not offer suffisent protection but he had no worries during our stay.

The bungalow style room were clean and tidy, the setting was lovely and everyone was friendly and helpful. We were there in low season and I could imagine the pool area might get crowded when it's busy but overall I couldn't find anything to complain about
