“Definitely my favorite place in Bali :)”
Reviewed 9 August 2010

Ubud Inn is such an amazing little place. If you are looking for a high class, extremely clean hotel then this is not the place for you. The staff is extremely nice and they are so willing to help with just about anything. The rooms are adorable, although some of them have the slight smell of mildew, it is not very bothersome. The rooms have minimal lighting which can be bothersome if you like well lit rooms. Every morning, guests are given amazing breakfast. Their banana pancakes are absolutely delicious, as well as the little croissants, which are freshly baked and amazingly delicious. The inn is covered in wild vegetation, beautiful tropical flowers, and often you will see one of the workers climb up the coconut trees and toss down coconuts. Ubud Inn makes delicious banana juice and their room service restaurant menu is pretty good and not too expensive for a hotel. The inn's lobby has free wi-fi and if you walk a little further towards the breakfast area, there is a large (probably foot and a half long from toes to head) bat waiting to greet you, i named him BillyBat :)

If you are ready to become a part of the vivid culture which resides in this hotel, then this is definitely the place for you. Once again, Ubud Inn is not you're cleanest little hotel and you will often find bugs hiding out in various places of your room but if you're in Bali, and assuming you are there to enjoy the exquisite rainforest, then you wont mind these few little things, they make the experience that much more amazing! :)

The room was clean and the bed was beautiful and romantic. Our room was situated just behind the swimming pool. It was large with a good bathroom and shower. Ubud Inn lies directly on one of the main roads of Ubud, Breakfast was okay. You can choose between toast with eggs and a pancake. It was great fun watching the kalong eating his fruit during our breakfast. The thing we didn't like was that the every member of the staff tried to sell tours.

We payed about $60 US / night for a room with a large double and single. Enough to accomodate 2 adults and our 2 young children. ( 3 and 5) . It wasn't luxury , but it was clean, well located, very pretty with a lovely pool and gardens, good breakfast, great staff. The bathroom was basic but we had hot water and clean towels every day. The room also came with a fridge, TV and air con and a pleasant outdoor seating area. Of the other places we stayed, the more expensive ones wern't necessarily any better. The cheaper ones would have suited us fine when we were childless backpackers but not clean or safe enough for young children. Next time we are in Bali we will most certainly stay here again.
(I'd also like to recommend Ubud for children, mine far prefered staying here to anywhere else, they loved the hustle and bustle of the shops and market, the nightly dance performances , the fun of eating out , learning about rice growing and visiting the villages and the monkey forest)

We stayed in the family room which is the next closest building to Monkey forest road and it was very noisy. The walls are paper thin and this is probably the most dirty hotel I have ever stayed in. The spiderwebs under the beds were huge and there were spiderwebs everywhere - kinda like the room had not been used for ages! The refridgerator was disgusting as well. The garden and pool area was very nice and a lot cleaner than the rooms!! Breakfast was below average. We paid 80 US$ per night and I think the right price would have been 30-40 US$ max! Staff was friendly but the had the motive to make money of you for sure. All in all there are many much better places to stay for a lot less. IF you do choose this hotel ask for a room in the back with a garden or poolview - those rooms might be better. Location is close to Monkey forrest and personally I would pick a hotel closer to ubud main street to be better located. They did have a very cute fruitbat hanging out in the garden which kept my kids happy.

The front desk staff were incredibly helpful with showing me the room, making my travel arrangements, and generally making my stay quite enjoyable. The room was bright, airy (I didn't get a room with a/c and didn't need to at this place) and clean. Not to mention the hot water actually worked at this place! It was also really cute with colourful art from a local artist all over the walls. The pool area was gorgeous and well maintained. A steal for 270,000 Rup. Located closer to the Monkey Forest than the market everything is just a short walk. Loved it.

Best thing about the Ubud Inn is its location at the lively part of the Monkey Forest Road, near to the Monkey Forest and all the shops and restaurants of Ubud. People are friendly and cheerful and the hotel garden with the swimming pool is very nice. Rooms are a bit old but fine, with airconditioning and hot water. If you want dinner, don’t eat at the hotel restaurant. Just pick one of the many restaurants at the Monkey Forest Road.

We were attracted by their charming garden with lovely flowers and there's even a huge harmless bat! The picture on the internet does not look like what it is.
Some friendly staff and nice simple breakfast if you're not a big eater.
Disappointed with the rooms. It took us to look at 4 rooms to decide on 1. The covers are dirty, the bed sheets smells (they probably never wash or the room has been vacant for a while, musty smell) and simple bathroom. One good thing is we have good shower pressure and great hotwater. We paid about 450000 rupia for a standard room. If you're not too particular, you can bring some room sprays and you should be fine. Bring insect repellent and pick a room with mosquito net over the bed. Glad we're only there for 2 nights.
