I spent 3 nights here and enjoyed them very much. Walking into the room with the towels made into birds on the bed was a great welcome. The hotel is a bit of a walk to the main town area, but it was cool and pleasant enough to walk, with the option of the bus from the hotel if times coincided.

The hotel is very pleasant, with modern upgraded rooms and great surrounds with the rice fields. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Outdoor restaurant areas great and food cooked well. I took the package deal which lunch or dinner each day which I didn't end up using for one day. Having a quite large monkey passing through the restaurant for lunch on the first day was an added bonus.

My only critiscism was that some work was underway which made the sounds of sawing and drilling whilst eating lunch or by the pool unpleasant - but that's progress I guess.

I certainly recommend this hotel.

This hotel is excellent! The staff are super helpful and can arrange anything you need. The rooms are really nice and the location is excellent amongst the rice fields.

I don't have a single bad thing to say about this place. You will definitely be glad you stayed here.

I loved my Saren Indah stay back in 2009, but it's even better now. They've improved the property by adding 2 big open air restaurants next to the rice paddy. Also, wifi is FREE and available in your room, which is a major improvement. The restaurant is also much better, and breakfast options are improved. Also, the pool has been remodeled. That said, the Saren Indah is still as homey and comfy as it was before.

A few things:

1. We had the deluxe rice paddie view for $70USD/night. It was a nice view, but you might not want to spend the extra money if you are on a budget. It's not a rice paddie like some in Bali that are really impressive, built on a hill.

2. The shortcut through Monkey Forest Road is pretty important. If you don't take it, and you try to walk you could get turned around pretty easily.

3. The shuttle is also very helpful, if you don't want to walk. Here's the deal, Saren Indah is a bit tucked away, but it's not a deterrent. You can still explore Ubud by foot, or by taking the shuttle.

4. A few restaurant tips:

Taco Casa--they DELIVER to Saren Indah. Excellent, fresh tacos. Highly recommend.

Murni's Warung--their duck is To DIE FOR. Also, have the Balinese Caramel Cake.

The Melting Pot--casual nightlife. Fun crowd of locals who like to play pool.

Naughty Nuri's--also has good tacos, and excellent pork ribs.

Shopping--Ubud Market if you're in the mood, otherwise the streets by the monkey forest have cute shops with limited amounts of merchandise. Be aware of moth holes, though.

Jazz Cafe--expensive drinks, but good music.

Spa--there's a little "natural massage" to the left of Saren Indah. Great massages for low price.

Enjoy your stay at Saren Indah!

Saren Indah was my favorite hotel that my boyfriend and I stayed at during our trip in Bali. The rooms are very clean and well prepared. Upon arrival our towels had been folded into swans and a plate of covered fruit had been left for us. We stayed in both the upstairs and downstairs rooms (booked too late so had to move around a bit - our fault). Moving between the rooms was easy and didn't cause any trouble in our day. Both rooms were very private and had nice views. The upstairs room had an especially good view of the rice terraces. The breakfast is delicious - loved the banana pancakes. What really makes the hotel though is the wonderful staff who were always happy to help. I highly recommend staying at the Saren Indah to anyone!

What really makes the Saren Indah is the service. The staff is absolutely sweet - especially the front reception and the dining staff. The breakfast is good, and the rooms are clean. The room preparation was very nice - folded towels, a covered complimentary fruit platter..

Their shuttle goes to town and is flexible with the location of drop off and pick up. Other guests had their restaurant call after dinner and the shuttle picked them up there, rather than the designated meeting point. The only thing set with the shuttle was the time.

Saren Indah is about a 15 min walk from Monkey Road - very convenient. The only thing is at night you have to walk through monkey Forest to get there- take a taxi if the shuttle has stopped ! Another guest suggested 20,000 rp as the going rate/ cut off for a fare from anywhere within that central area of Ubud.

The pool area and common areas are beautiful.

As said- would definitely go back just because the staff was that great !

We have just spent 14 nights at the delightful Saren Indah. It is our 6th stay at this hotel, and we enjoyed our time just as much as previous trips. Since our last visit, there have been a few changes, both in the grounds and in our room.

There is a new resturant building overlooking the rice fields, and located in front of the smaller one previously there, which now is used for breakfasts - the newer building is much larger. The original small restaurant building behind the pool area has been removed and a building to be used for Yoga is nearly completed on the site.

In our room, the old fabric covered bedhead has been replaced with a solid timber one, probably not as "balinese" in feel, but much easier to keep clean. In the bathroon, a two sided, pull out mirror has been attached to the wall & the long bathroom curtains have been shortened and pull across the windows more easily. The free wifi seemed even better this trip, and rarely dropped out.

This hotel is always the cleanest of any we stay at, and as usual, clean towels are provided twice daily, the second set in the early evening, when the houseboy also turns on the outside lights and places a mozzie coil on your balcony.

Much has been said about the wonderful staff at this hotel, and we fully agree. From management, to the housboys, everyone is extremely helpful, caring and more than pleasant.

Fully agree with a previous comment re noisy children, this hotel is really not suitable for children, and most guests are couples. Upstairs rooms have 21 quite steep stairs, so if you have an issue with that, best to request a ground floor room.

We are looking forward to our next trip to Saren Indah which is already booked.

Thank you Ary, Wayan, and all of your wonderful staff.
