“Private hiddaway”
Reviewed 26 April 2018 for a stay in April 2018

This villa is fantastic. Quiet and scerine yet everything is very close. Its perfect for two couples or just two friends traveling. The breakfast is very good and its nice to have it deliever right to your table. The pool is the best feature and the bedrooms are very clean and nice. We enjoyed the openness of the common space. Theres plenty of spas within walking distance and theres plenty of things to do with a short drive from this villa. The staff was really nice and usually always around or atleast contactable. All in all we never wanted to leave!

“Nice but could be better”

I believe that reviews should serve to help decisions so I want to preface this review by saying that I am being honest and of course this is just my opinion. Although we enjoyed our stay, we were quite happy to leave which we feel shouldn't be the case. We stayed for 2 nights.

The Good
Ratna was very communicative. We were originally staying elsewhere in Ubud but needed to move because of construction and Ratna allowed us to book Ratna Villa 2 very quickly over whatsapp. She offered to help book us a taxi from our first accommodation and helped us book a taxi at the end of the stay to the airport. She also allowed us to check out late in the evening so we didn't have to hang around in town or at the airport for a whole day. The area was much more peaceful than where we had come from and we enjoyed that.
The pool is actually much better than the photos. Although slightly narrow, it is long and the depth begins shallow then deepens until just over five foot. The elevated covered sitting area is comfortable and peaceful. There is a small kitchenette and the mini bar is a great idea and reasonably priced. The villa is close to some restaurants that serve good food at good prices.

The Things to Know
It is a very open living area. There will be lots of geckos and wildlife which won't bother some people but will bother others. The doors to the bedroom don't seal the room as there is a gap so we had a gecko in our bedroom for the whole stay. Take insect repellent if you are prone to mosquito bites. The villa is next to working fields so expect some interesting smells and perhaps some fires being set. The pool pump is automatic and is set for times around midday then stops mid-afternoon then comes on again. I'm not sure what times.

The Bad
There was an ant problem with the bedroom we were staying in. There were hundreds of ants by the bedroom door and running around the wall of the bedroom but we had absolutely no food in the room. We couldn't use the other bedroom because a key had been broken in the lock and so we couldn't keep our valuables in there safely. The staff also didn't clean our room one day because apparently we had the only key - but we knew this wasn't true. When I told Ratna about these issues and that I was quite disappointed she became quite difficult and said that she was letting us check out late with no extra fee so she didn't know what else she could do for us. I wasn't expecting her to really do anything but just be understanding and perhaps apologetic and besides, the two points (about the ants and late checkout) were unrelated. I understand that the living area is open so wildlife is to be expected, but the bedroom looks as though it is closed off which is why we went ahead and booked it despite the open living area, however it was easy for the wildlife to come in.
The reason we knew that they had another key is because when we returned from a trip to a restaurant, the villa gates were open and there were 4 people by the villa trying to fix a wifi issue for the other villas. This quite surprised us. Another day they knocked our gate to ask about wifi and one person walked straight past my husband to check the router and then immediately restarted it even though I was using it. When I said this, he didn't blink an eye. It made us feel like we couldn't be entirely private in case they turned up again.
I had seen reviews before about stains on sheets and unfortunately found that to be true. Both beds had small stains on the sheets, the sofa had a hole in the seat and the cushions in the sheltered outside seating area all looked like they had seen better days.
Originally she said we could check out late and stay in the villa as long as we allowed the cleaning staff to come. However on the last day she told us that we needed to move to a different villa without much warning. We assumed we would just stay in one of the private villas for the rest of the day, however she moved us to a hut with a shared pool area. It was fine, but it wasn't really made clear to us.

For the price, it was fairly good but personally we wouldn't stay here again. If you're happy to live among wildlife and be fairly open then this place will be great for you, but we were hoping for some privacy and relaxation and we didn't quite find this.

“Love staying at Ratna's villas!”
Reviewed 12 December 2016 for a stay in December 2016

Stayed in Ratna2 for 4 nights and loved it.. A home away from home!

Ratna is beautiful and always on the go .. She has a big laundry business and little shop next door close to the entrance to Penestanan Kelod.. Her Villas (there are 3) are further down the gang overlooking the rice paddies and the tall coconut palms lining the river.. Great views of the ever changing sky from sunrise to sunset.

This is my favourite location in Bali.. The gang (lane) can only be accessed by foot or bike.. and is the centre of village life. Always someone to chat to or just a pagi (morning) to everyone you meet on your way..

Close to the famous Weasri Warung, Villa2 is clean & modern.. Fabulous ensuite to shower under the stars, kitchen if you feel like rustling up something whilst watching DVD's, fabulous pool for swims anytime of the day, great comfy bed .. and beautifully landscaped garden.

Most of all the peace & quiet needed for a relaxing holiday!

Thank you to Ratna, my friend now! And Putu who looked after us.. and Komang

Nothing was too much trouble .. Going back to stay January '17

Cannot wait!!!

“Mind Blowing!”
Reviewed 17 October 2016 for a stay in October 2016

Ratna Villa 2 is an amazing property with an amazing people taking care of you! We called Ratna as we were approaching the village. She met us at the car and took us to her shop. Her employees showed up and two bikes and took us down to the Villa. Its a beautiful place and all the pictures do complete justice to it. The service is great, the showers are open air and the pool is fantastic. Its just a few minutes to the Ubud city center on bike ( she can arrange the bike for you at a reasonable price ).

I actually got injured on the bike and Ratna sent a friendly doctor to the villa in barely any time! And the laundry and breakfast are pretty amazing.
Its these things that make it such a wonderful place to stay. I will definitely keep going back!

“Fantastic villa, highly recommended.”
Reviewed 19 January 2016 for a stay in December 2015

We stayed in Ratna Villa 2 for only 3 night but it is recommended to stay there for a longer period. The staffs are really nice and helpful. The villa itself was private and quiet and exceptionally clean, the pool fantastic and staff serviced the villa and grounds daily. The walk along the laneway was lovely, past rice fields and other villas. Ratna was charming and lovely to deal with. I cannot find any fault with this villa and recommend it wholeheartedly.

“Amazing Villa”
Reviewed 3 January 2016 for a stay in December 2015

Highly recommend this villa. It is located about a 5 minute taxi ride from the center of Ubud, but away from the craziness. It is a short 5 minute walk from the main road to the villa which is located in a rice field. Ratna, her team, and everyone who lives in the area were so friendly and helpful.
