Description: Cafe Wayan and Bakery Established in 1986 We are happy to have had so many nice guests come to enjoy our food for over 31 years. Cafe Wayan started as a small warung (a local food stall) where Ibu Wayan sold black rice pudding and coffee to the rice farmers on what has now become Monkey Forest Road. Tourist began walking down "the path" to the Monkey Forest and stopped by for a coffee, snacks or to buy peanuts for the monkeys. Ibu Wayans always love to cook as a child and soon the menu began to expand. Return friends to Ubud began helping with recipes of western dishes as long term visitors and residents sometimes miss their own food too. Ibu Wayan began traveling abroad and learned more western cooking with Chef Joe Schultz of India Joes's restaurant in Santa Cruz, California and also learned the art of Thai cuisine in Bangkok.

“Great, small cooking class”
Reviewed 5 June 2014

My mom and I spent this afternoon with Wayan and his helpers at one of their off-site (behind Monkey Forest) cooking classes. Just walked by Cafe Wayan, saw the sign and booked it the same day. Happy we did. All the other highly recommended places on Trip Advisor seem to have 10-15 people per class, and they don't let you cook one dish from start to finish (you do rounds with multiple people and multiple dishes). Wayan has 2-8 people, we were 4 and it was perfect. They pick you up and drop you off and take you off to an out-of-the-way restaurant/cooking grounds. The first party to register picks one of seven meal options. It included 5 dishes included salad, appetizer, main and dessert. When you show up, all the great fresh ingredients are waiting for you, pre-cut/measured. It's a 2 hour course which was nice, and you get to make everything there together in a small group. You sample throughout, then eat it at the end. About $35 per person. Worth it. Enjoy.

“Fantastic Nasi Campur and lovely garden setting”
Reviewed 4 June 2014

I only discovered this restaurant last trip to Bali two years ago. It was on our list of "must dos" when we travelled this year. We did lunch both times and I enjoyed the Nasi Campur both times. A real favourite. It has a gorgeous garden setting and is much bigger than it looks when you first walk in. The green pancakes they offer for dessert are just fantastic! A must do whilst in Ubud. There is a bakery attached however didn't try anything there (too full).

“Eat here and take a cooking class too!”
Reviewed 3 June 2014 via mobile

This was our first food in Bali. Great traditional food! Amazing noodle dishes. Very friendly stalk.
Liked the food so much that we signed up for a cooking class at their sister restaurant too, and that was an amazing experience too! Highly recommended.

“Very tasty for a touristy place”
Reviewed 1 June 2014

There were many other tourists here, some were kind of obnoxious - luckily there are many separate seating areas in Cafe Wayan so we were able to get away from many of them.

We sat at a lovely table, on cushions, and had delicious food! We were only able to come for lunch, and I've heard it's very popular for dinner. Next time we visit Bali, we will do this!
