Description: Cafe Wayan and Bakery Established in 1986 We are happy to have had so many nice guests come to enjoy our food for over 31 years. Cafe Wayan started as a small warung (a local food stall) where Ibu Wayan sold black rice pudding and coffee to the rice farmers on what has now become Monkey Forest Road. Tourist began walking down "the path" to the Monkey Forest and stopped by for a coffee, snacks or to buy peanuts for the monkeys. Ibu Wayans always love to cook as a child and soon the menu began to expand. Return friends to Ubud began helping with recipes of western dishes as long term visitors and residents sometimes miss their own food too. Ibu Wayan began traveling abroad and learned more western cooking with Chef Joe Schultz of India Joes's restaurant in Santa Cruz, California and also learned the art of Thai cuisine in Bangkok.

We stayed in Ubud 3 days and had 2 dinners and 1 lunch at Cafe Wayan simply because on every occasion the food was great and service brilliant. It's on Monkey Forest Road and like a lot of buildings in Bali it looks nothing from the outside, but go through and the restaurant stretches through lovely gardens, and diners are seated either in chairs or cushions in separate huts/bungalows. . The food is authentic Balinese/Indonesian, is served with a smile, and is cheap - amazingly so. Suitable for couples, larger parties, families.

We had a very good meal with our group of 13 in the evening. We didn"t have all the time and the staff helped us out with the meals which would not take a long time. Timing was perfect and the meals super good and price was OK. Next day we came back in the afternoon just to have some dessert which were also outstanding.

I really loved this restaurant after spending some time at the monkey park and walking around Ubud on a hot day.

We sat in one of "bungalows" for lunch. Nice and cool, very scenic, near a fish pond.

Lots of room for the kids to stretch out without disturbing other diners.

Pizza for kids was nice, nothing too fancy.

Curry and chicken noodle dish for adults was yummy.

Good, friendly serice too.

We have stayed in Ubud 6 days and had lunch and dinner here 6 times. Had different dishes and all tastes excellent. Carrot cake is a must to try. Even attended to the cooking classes which was an awesome experience for us.

We booked a private area in the beautiful gardens for a special birthday lunch. I selected a cake and gave the staff the numbers then left it to them. The result was wonderful, with special treatment, the children looked after and amused, the cake presented by a procession of singing staff in Balinese costume and lots of personal attention. They really made us feel special.
The food here is wonderful, with the Nasi Campur a must try. The Crispy Duck is also a top dish.
We will definitely be back.
