“Very small, nothing spectacular”
Reviewed 19 October 2013

To walk the nearby villages was a lot of fun and interesting, like seeing the people toil on their land and kids playing in the streets..

“A very special place”
Reviewed 23 August 2013

I've now visited this temple twice, and it is one of my favourites, not just in Java, but anywhere in the world. Not because it is large or spectacular, which it clearly isn't. But it has a simplicity and solidity that somehow quietens the soul, the proportions are exceptionally pleasing, its location on the hillside is stunning, and the remaining stone carvings are pleasing to the eye. Depending on the time of year, if you are lucky, you will have the temple to yourself, and it is well worth the drive along the lovely rural hillside roads. While in the vicinity, make sure you also visit the Bali-style Hindu temple of Candi Cetho a half-hour drive away even higher up on the flanks of Mount Lawu

“Very small hindu temple of the 17th century”
Reviewed 30 July 2013

Actually not worth a detour, except when you want to hike in this area. The surroundings are a relief after busy cities like Yogjakarta and Solo.

“Beautiful and amusing”
Reviewed 22 July 2013

It's a bit difficult to get to, but its worth it. Beautiful carvings and sculptures, lots of phallic worshipping ceremonies must have taken place here.

“Sukuh Temple”
Reviewed 19 June 2013 via mobile

This was the highlight of our trip to Sukuh! Nice walk to the temple and thru the villages. Amazing stone carving preserved for ages. Indonesia has so many of these art work in the country. Guides know their stuff and do their best to explain in English about these highlights. The walk thru the villages makes my humble when I see people working the land with their whole being!
