Narita Hotel Surabaya

This hotel was a cheap and reasonably well located option for a night before an early flight to Jakarta. The room was ok but as it was supposed to be well above the basic option I would hate to see what you get for that. My main issues concerned billing. Firstly we ate in the restaurant and when it came to paying or signing to the room I was given a blank bill to sign. Not unreasonably, I believe, I politely explained I wasn't prepared to sign a blank bill as anything could be put onto it. I was then taken to see another member of staff, I assume a manager, who arranged for a proper bill to be compiled. I was made to feel I was being awkward or disrespectful for not signing the original. The next day at checkout I was charged a completely different rate to that on my booking confirmation. When I queried this I was told it was tax but my booking form clearly stated tax was included. Again a manager was consulted and the original sum reinstated. This was the only hotel of many in Indonesia where I encountered issues with discrepancies between quoted prices and check out charges. I'm sure it was human error rather than anything else but check your details carefully.

This is a hotel that provides the bare necessities with style. We stayed here for over a week, and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The interior is eclectic Indonesian style. They use a lot of wood, and it lends a warmer feeling to the otherwise cold atmosphere. The room is clean, and well furnished.

The hotel only has a tiny elevator for the whole property, which is mostly used to transport luggage and other heavy stuff. I mostly used the stairs.

Although there is no swimming pool in the property, the hotel has a small gym on the ground floor. They use "Life Fitness" equipment with remote monitor. If you have it, you can pair your strap on heart rate monitor with the machine.

If you tend to be culinary adventurous, there are several local eateries around the hotel, offering a variety of menu. From 'nasi pecel' (rice with steamed vegetable served with peanut sauce) to 'swikee' (a dish of frog legs either fried or served as soup).

The hotel itself has a tiny restaurant, serving delicious dishes. Personally, I found the 'Bubur Ayam Narita' (rice porridge served with chicken meat and other condiments), a popular breakfast menu at the hotel, to be especially delightful. I had it almost everyday.

If you plan to roam around Surabaya and only need a place for the night, this hotel would be a good choice.

Room Tip: Better to choose rooms on higher floor for a quieter sleep.

This is a well priced hotel convenient to Surabaya airport and city. Rooms were clean and well serviced. Free wifi in rooms and lobby. Several malls nearby (short drive)
My only complaint was breakfast- first morning it was in lobby and there was not enough room for all guests to eat. Second day it was in a small meeting room out the back and seating would have been a problem if I didn't eat late
Will definately stay here again

Stayed here overnight. The hotel is about 20 mins fr the airport. There is a pool, 24 hour resto (one of the best nasi goreng I had), free popcorn in the lobby. The rooms are good sized, clean and with enough english channels for non-indos to enjoy. Price is quite fair and staff is friendly and competent.

I've stayed twice at narita hotel and spent few night with family. it was a nice hotel, reasonable price, clean and spacious room.
the service was nice and prompt, they serve very simple breakfast: nasi goreng (fried rice), if you don't like the menu, don't worry. just a step outdoor you'll find the best "pecel" in surabaya, Pecel Bu Kus. javaness traditional food, very delicious, fresh, and comes with very low price ( pecel is not recommended for those who have allergy for peanuts) but they serve other menu, which is also very delicious.
narita hotel located at one of the main road, very easy to find, tell the taxi driver then they will recognize it instantly.
its about 20-30 min drive from juanda airport, 20 min from tunjungan plaza, 15 min to galaxy mall. (all depend on traffic, but surabaya not as crowded as jakarta, it has much better n reliable traffic, not something to worry about)

Room Tip: just a step outdoor you'll find the best "pecel" in surabaya, Pecel Bu Kus. javaness t...

This hotel is in the middle of everything, price is in the middle range (US$ 50ish depending on the timing), so is the service, the room quality, restaurant selection etc. If you are not looking for any fancy hotel with the basic services, this is your hotel. The music that they play in the lobby can be quite loud when you get the lower floor, so if you want to rest, ask for upper floors. If you want to join in, ask for the lower floor. Another thing to mention is the location, which is slightly off the city center. The street where the hotel is located is filled with fruit sellers, so if you are into fruit, this is good. Be sure to haggle too!
