The Food was Astonishing when me and my Family Visited this Restaurant, My Favorite is the Funghi Pizza, Its actually plain but very Delicious, If you sum up and compare to Pizza Hut, It's actually Cheaper, The Band was really Nice, Overall, The Dessert was really great, The Lava Cake was Hot, as in REALLY Hot, Freshly made. would come back to this place again if I have a chance

“wow!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 January 2014

What a special night out this proved to be! There is a live band (get them to sing their own/local songs or some golden oldies) with the most charming members. The open kitchen is spotlessly clean. The waiters are very, very well-trained, the owner is on hand to see that you are happy, the decor is upmarket Western style, there is a superb selection of wines, whisky, brandy and beers from all over the World. The food is proudly presented on large plates with a totally fined dining flair at a very respectable price. The young chef (only 23 and a local guy) has the makings of a Michelin star chef if he gets the opportunity. Please visit this restaurant for a brilliant meal and experience when you are anywhere near Batam

“Good the first time, but only downward from there.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 January 2014

It's disappointing, I really enjoyed my first meal here a year ago but each time I have returned the quality of the food and flavors continues to go down. I keep returning in hopes it will get better, and seeing all the reviews it appear it has, but after my last delivery order we threw out items things we ordered as it wasn't even edible.

Is there a new chef? The service can be great and can be terrible. They have charged me the wrong prices and reluctantly changed it. When I showed the staff there was a hair in my dish they just smiled, said "oh yes, it's no problem" and walked away. Where is the management? Our group tried many different dishes each time...here is an example:

Margharita pizza is more like a plain cheese pizza, no fresh mozzarella, no fresh basil. If you look close you can see specs of dried basil. The steak with wine sauce was a micro portion with 1 bite size piece of broccoli, 3 overcooked baby asparagus and a half cup of mashed potatoes. We ordered medium and got bloody rare. Better to undercook than overcook though, right?

Enjoyed the tiramisu the first time, the second time it was average, the third time ..meh, the last time we threw it away after one bite.We wonder how old it was, it turned our stomachs. The lasagna was really good the first time, the second time, OK, the third time it had no flavor and mushy texture. We tossed the 4 stagioni pizza as well, it was topped with flavorless and some even rancid tasting toppings.

I realize resources are limited and we will not get authentic style food, however the quality of the food and service has gone down. Wish I could give this place 5 stars, it certainly deserved it before.

“Fulfilling Italian meal in the most unthinkable of places”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 November 2013

Famed for seafood, having a true blue hearty italian meal at harbourbay, Batam, was the last thing my companion and i thought we would have while on the trip. We were attracted to Bella because of the colourful and distinctive Italian stripes that decorated the restaurant's exterior. A peek into the bistro gave us the sight of a warm and cosy interior, as if it was an extended living room of a private house. The coal-fired brick oven hinted to me that the pizza was a must-try. The staff were courteous and eager to serve.

A flip through the extensive menu shows a large variety of food, with its original Italian name in bold and description of each dish underneath. After much deliberation, we decided to have Caesar Salad (Rp 78,000/ SGD8.60) for starters. The fresh vegetables were tasty and refreshing because of the cheese and light dressing that came with it. We enjoyed it.

For main courses, we settled on Beef Lasgne (Rp 72,000/SGD8) and Margherita (pizza) (Rp 50,000/SGD5) to share. The pipping hot beef lasgne was totally delectable and creamy. Sprinkled with shredded cheese, the top layer was chewy, while the chunks of minced beef gave every mouthful a great texture, as it contrasted with the smooth sheets of the lasgne. The lasgne from this place could beat any Italian/western food establishments in Singapore hands down. I had expected the Margherita to be mediocre but a meal with Bella's have taught me that plain (Margherita is made up of chiefly tomato sauce and cheese with no toppings) can be good. The crust of the pizza was soft, fluffy and firm, while the tomato and cheese gave it all the moist and texture to make it the heartiest pizza i've ever had in a long while. The price is definitely worth it, considering the superb quality of both the pizza and lasgne. I am sure i wouldn't be able to get a Margherita as great as Bella's for SGD5 in Singapore, even if i am willing to pay a little bit more.

We washed our food down with a mug of beer each, which costed around (Rp22,000-23,000/SGD2.50) While you might expect that i have nothing to report about commerical canned beer, i must illustrate their great service by telling you how delighted i was to have the waiter open up my canned Carlsberg in front of me before pouring it into the frozen mug.

We chose to conclude our meal with Panna Cotta (Rp 55,000/ SGD6.10) and Homemade Tiramisu (Rp 66,000) The Panna Cotta was served in a pretty moulded shape. We found out that it was extremely firm, as a pudding should be, after pressing it with the back of our spoons. The milky and creamy panna cotta melts in your mouth, along with the caramel syrup. The caramel was not too sweet and it complemented the pudding well. The tiramisu was served in a generous portion, appropriate for sharing. It was moist, and the coffee could be tasted. The thick layer of cream on it was light too. For the price we paid, we were more than satisfied.

In essence, the food we ate is only a fraction of what Bella had to offer but everything we ordered (as aforementioned) left a very lasting impression after we left the bistro that night. The ambience of the restaurant was warm and we definitely didn't have to break our bank to dine in the midst of the classy set-up. I recommend this place to anyone seeking an alternative to the countless seafood offers in Batam. I was never a fan of seafood. The comfortable restaurant is ideal for a romantic and quiet dinner but it was good for large group of friends, family or a corporate meal as well. I am looking forward to my next Batam trip and Bella Italian will be a must visit list, of course.

Cheers ;)
