“Relaxing experience”
Reviewed 17 July 2009

Our 3d/2n experience last December was not only memorable but it was a relaxing treat for all of us (my parents and my beau).

Only a few hours aways from Singapore, Bintan Island to start with is a great place to spend a calming time at the beach. The hotel provided a land transfer service from the Sri Bintan Purra Ferry Terminal to the resort. The trip was a bit long for some people who cannot find enjoyment while travelling. From the time we arrived at the resort, you will have a sense of tranquility as its nestled somewhere at the end of the island. You wont see a lot of people outside the villa nor neighbouring resorts. You can splurge on the white sand or take a dip in their swimming pool right after a snack, as its only a stones throw away from their restaurant. The room was very appealing. We had our own verranda overlooking at the sea. We had a great view in the morning and during sunset. And the most unique among all their amenities is The Sun Moon restaurant (a kelong restaurant above the sea). You will also appreciate the friendly crews in the hotel. The spa is exceptionally good for most of the spa resorts that we have tried.

Overall, I would recommend this resort who wants a lulling moment and just a romantic stroll along the beach. I have been recommending this resort to my friends and they weren't disappointed.

Just a piece of advice, you'd appreciate your vacation if you stay there at least 3d/2n. If you're planning to stay overnight, I dont think it would be satisfying as there's a long land travel involved. You'd be more stressed than relaxed.

Adieu!

It was a bit run down as far as luxury resorts go, and that is what they advertised !
The buffet food was simply awful AWFUL... and a la carte food was a RIP OFF. This is what spoiled the trip for us...when a resort tries to rip you off on food and drinks...I mean your on a fairly deserted area of Indonesia with few attractions around except the island resort and WHAM the food bill is more than the stay!!
The beach was really beautiful and they had loads of facilities at the beach. Everything else was really nice but the resort could have done with a bit of spit and polish....

The hotel lacks any atmosphere. The staff are great and the service was outstanding, The spa is good, but over priced. The hotel was dull, boring and not very relaxing. The beach is terrible (no beach), the prices expensive and the food was bad. The hidden charges were very bad. This hotel is great for 1 or 2 nights to get away from Singapore. Any longer than that, you will find there is nothing to do and the trips are priced very high. Over priced for what it is... not good value!

The ferry from Singapore’s Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal to Bintan’s Tanjung Pinang Ferry Terminal took less than 2 hours. Just after immigration at the Tg Pinang Terminal was the Bintan Agro Beach Resort counter. The staff there arranged free transport to the resort, about 45min by car or bus.
Resort was on the east coast of Bintan island, on Trikora beach. There were only some village houses along the road, but nothing much else on either side within walking distance.
We stayed 3D2N, Friday & Saturday, at the standard “deluxe” room. Friday costs SGD99 nett, Saturday costs SGD118.
On Friday, we almost had the whole resort to ourselves, seeing only 5 couples there. But on Saturday, the resort was full, with many Indonesians. There was even a local bank staff function on the beach, with loud music blaring. If you really want peace and quiet, go on a weekday.
We got a ground floor room with verandah and a seaview through some trees. The room had TV, aircond, bathroom with shower. Slippers, shampoo, bath gel, soap, toothbrush, razor, comb, and a fridge (without minibar items) were provided, but there were only 3 hangers, and no hairdryer. There was a kettle with tea, coffee, and 2 bottles water.
At the side of every block was a water filtration unit. Tap water was fine for washing but resort management advised boiling bottled water to make tea/coffee.
There was only one 9W energy-saving light in the bathroom, and if you dropped your contact lens, that’s the end. Management should fit at least a mirror light.
Bathroom had a small window open to outside, and this was the cause of some complaints about room airconditioner not being powerful enough. If bathroom door was closed, room temperature could go down to 20degC.
There was a convenience store next to reception. Can beer costs IDR15,000; can soft drinks IDR12,000. If you think this was expensive for a hotel, buy your drinks in Tg Pinang before you come.
There were 2 restaurants:
1. the resort restaurant where breakfast was served, and offered set meals from IDR30,000 for lunch and dinner.
2. the Sun Moon restaurant on a rocky outcrop in the sea, accessible by a 50 meter long jetty near the Oceanic Spa. Seafood at Sun Moon was really fresh and we found out that there was a pontoon net in the sea at the back of the restaurant where all the live crabs and fishes were kept.
There were 2 swimming pools, one adjacent to reception, and the other next to resort restaurant, but the pools were small and not for serious swimming. The beach at high tide was OK, but there was a lot of seaweed and other debris. At low tide, we could walk about 30 meters out to look for corals, shells. It was mud, not sand.
Just opened a week ago was a new fitness room with weights and resistance equipment. But this room was not airconditioned, and there were no towels or drinks.
The real attraction was the reasonably priced seasports. Banana Boat at SGD10 for 15min; Flying Fish at SGD15 for 10min; kayak at SGD5 for 30min, snorkeling/swimming at White Sands island at SGD40 for 3hrs; snorkeling at Mapur island at SGD80 for 3 hrs. The corals at Mapur were nice, with many different types (brain, fan, table), and colours (purple, green, red), lots of sea urchin (urgh!), and giant clams, but not as many fishes as Phi Phi island on Phuket. Downside: the 45min boat ride one-way could be uncomfortable if the sea was rough, and sandflies if you get too close to the Mapur beach.
For the diehard shopaholics, the resort offers bus trips mornings and evenings to Tg Pinang for SGD10/adult; went to Ramayana Shopping Centre, selling clothes, shoes, supermarket, and other places. Downside is the long 45min journey each way.

Bintan Agro Resort is the very first Resort Im staying in bintan, from ferry terminal to agro resort traveling time took about 45 mins, waited 30 mins at the receptions, staff are friendly, we book the deluxe rooms, its facing sea view, private Jacuzzi in the balcony , the breakfast still ok! There is only one restaurant nearby our resort our lunch & dinner was settle at there, they impress me of the dish mostly is Asia food, just can’t stop eating! Simply love it.

For sea sport wise, we try the banana boat! WOW~ its fun, everyone have to try! Cost bout 10 sin dollar each person ride for 20mins! Must really have to balances if not you have to kiss the sea for a few time! For those people who expect more sea sport, I actually will not recommend bintan, but for relaxing, bintan agro resort it’s a place u can try! A high-light point the spa was great, 3 hours cost about sin $60, it’s really cheap! A must to try out!

Sad thing for lady! Not much thing for us to shop! They only have one Gift shop!!! For the drink wise! It’s quite expensive! Soft drink $2 each cans!!! But for beer its also $2.50 each cans! For Us! Beers to go~~~

Overall the most memory thing is that these tips its to celebrating me n my fiancé birthday, on my surprise, my fiancé have make an order a cake and flower from the resort, but the resort didn’t have any shop which selling all this, but the staff went down to the city area and got us the cake and flower!!! And about midnight time, over 10 staffs came up to our resort room, with a lovely cake just wanted to say happy birthday to us!!! What a excellent service they have! We appreciate and impress by them!

Quite possibly one of the worst places I've ever stayed.

Dad booked a weekend getaway for him, myself and my younger brother. Where to start???

1. The bar area, that was non existent. It pretty much consisted of two stools at recpetion.
2. The food - corned beef club sandwhich?? Never again.
3. Is was half finished, building works everywhere.
4. All of 4 sunloungers on the grassy bank next to the non existent beach.
5. A pointless snorkel excursion, no fish and dead coral.

The only good thing was that the rooms were relatively clean. Not much good if nothing else was any good..

We stayed for 4D3N and had a really good time at the hotel. It is a great place for a weekend getaway and the food served in the restaurant are fantastic.

The staff were amazingly friendly and helpful although they can't speak English well. Great customer service!

Breakfast was alright. There were more choices of food on the weekend than the weekdays which only consists of fried noodles, fried rice, fruits, different type of eggs (omelette, scrambled, etc)

Just be prepared if you go there to do their sea activities. It all depends on the weather. Our first 2 days there was a bit disappointing as we could not do anything much due to the weather and strong wind.

The television have most of the Singapore channels, Indonesian channels and a few Malaysian channel. Its not that bad if you stay in your room to watch tv.

The hotel do accept Singapore dollars and even exchange Singapore and Indo Rupiah.

The drive from the Tanjung Pinang Ferry terminal to the hotel takes about 45 minutes. So it is a bit far from shopping places. They have shuttles though to go places outside the resort.

Overall, a good choice if you are looking at affordable place to stay for a getaway.

We are planning to go there again soon...!
