Stayed at Nikoi Island at the end of Nov and totally loved the island..Firstly, the Nikoi reservation office were fantastic, they'll give you all the information you need regarding the island, travel from Singapore and visa requirement. At Bintan Ferry Terminal, we were met as soon as we disembarked from the Ferry and whisked away to a private room to complete our immigration requirements for Indonesia. Taxis were waiting outside the terminal to transport us to the speedboat which then took us to Nikoi.
Upon arrival at Nikoi, we were greeted with a wonderful welcome drink and some cold refreshing towels. My beach chalet was very 'barefoot luxury' and I absolutely loved it, it really kept in touch with the eco-friendly theme and was very airy with wonderful high ceilings. The chalet had a lot of sea breeze and you were literally just metres away from the beach. The chalet had everything you need including a gazebo, where you can have a massage next to the beach.
The food though not ' A la carte' was just simply amazing and was taken on a long table seating about 20 people. During my stay there, all the guests commented on how fantastic and fresh the food was and how much choice we had. If you have special dietary requirements, it was no trouble at all for them to serve an alternative dish or drink. We had so much choice and the food was so good that you felt you simply had to do it some justice by tucking into every dish.
The beach is great and though all chalets (6 in total) were full of guests during my stay, I felt that I had the whole island to myself and it was very calm and serene.
The pool area is set amongst natural rock formation and the owner did a wonderful job with the picturesque setting and finishing of the pool area. One of the island owners took a couple and me on a tour of 9 additional chalets currently being built, this was just a wonderful gesture and we really appreciated it.
Staff at Nikoi are just simply some of the most wonderful people I have ever met and I do encourage any visitor staying there to engage them in some conversation. Some are a little shy at first, bearing in mind that English is not their first language but they are willing to learn and want to improve their English skills. I loved the dining room staff. Yogi, the resident bar man is just a great character with wonderful stories and the kids really loved him, he's also the resident David Attenborough and takes the kids on island exploration and they all love the daily feeding of the island's resident lizard. He also makes all the females that visit the island jewelry from the most beautiful seashells picked from the beack. P.s, he's got a couple of spiders living in the bar area (Lucy and Suzy I believe) and they seem to love all the attention from the guests.
