“Best place in Sulawesi!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 June 2014

We stayed for one week at MC and we had the best time. The bungalows are great, the food is delicious and different every day. We had a great time with everyone who worked there and they are super helpful. It is not expensive and it is one of the first ones after the village. Thanks Ismail for everything! We will definitely come back :-).

I didn't stay here but thankfully happened upon it after trekking from the other side of the island. The bead is amazing and it appeared that it's being raked and cleaned regularly. There are long term guests there so I think that says a lot. After I finished snorkeling out front I went up to get my stuff and the lunch being served looked great! This place is on the side of the island with much calmer water and a LOT less garbage than the other side. A lot less meaning basically none.

This resort is ideally placed with a stretch of beach and coral in front. The staff is friendly, the cook is great but the management is not. Arrived with reservation, but no cottage available, had to stay in small room for 2 nights. The newer cottages are well-equipped and nicely placed. Under better management the place could be perfect.

The view over the only big strip of beach on Bunaken is amazing, and once in a while you'll see dolphins come by. Just off the coast you can go on amazing snorkelling trips, though it is advisable to bring your own gear if you have it. The cottages are well-built and well-furnished, but could use some maintenance and thorough cleaning. Bedlinen and towels are clean, but the roof of the mosquito net is full of easy-to-clean rat poo and dead insects, and al lot of the flat surfaces are dusty. The cook Anita is amazing, and makes the best of all the groceries the manager provides her with.. which brings us to the problem. Jacques no longer runs the place, which is now done by Mamaeche. She (unfortunately) often buys cheap ingredients to save on groceries, which means that at times the food is not as good as what you're paying for. Her attitude is basically to get your money and give you as little as possible in return, which really takes the vibe down a notch. The potential for an amazing and cheap resort is there, but some things need to change to make a stay at MC Cottages the best it can be.

We absolutely loved MC! The only Clean beach on bunaken island and the staff is amazing and not very expensive. The rooms could use a little maintenence but its still very nice. We ended up staying there all of our nights on bunaken. There was being a lot of well needed upgrades done by the new and o so Awesome manager Jacques (not sure how its spelled). The place had a really nice wibe and a lot of charm, and we would recommend anyone to stay there! Diver or not!

Thank you for everything Jacques, Mamaetchi and Jehdi.

With one of the best views on the island from your room this is certainly a good place to stay in bunaken if you are on a budget. Its great to stay here if you are diving somewhere else as they dont have dive facilities here. For example it cost 350k a night here while two fish is a staggering 960k a night for the exact same room and they have no mosquito net there. The food amazing 2or three whole fish with dabu dabu and chicken with veg and rice. Three meals a day all included so itsbasically free accomadation. If you need any help ask the ever friendly jacque, he lives there. There are many dive resorts you can dive with less than a few, minutes walk away. We chose cakalang. Great choice
