We stayed one night. The standard room had a stale smell, fungus and dirt inherent shower. It was easy to find the light switches because there was a circle of dirt around them on the once white walls.

And there was a karaoke joint next door, and of course awoken by bad Iman karaoke...

We were attracted to the pool. Unfortunetaly, they let in local people who come in big crowds and stare at tourists, which stopped us from coming to the pool. The rooms are average, the standard ones are noisy and numerous times people tried to open our door. The staff is passive, unwilling to help and at times really rude.

We stayed here for 4 nights in total, like most people that come to Manado we were here to explore the Dive sites of Sulawesi. We checked out of another hotel as there were not a lot of nearby restauraunts etc. A Taxi driver took us to Minahasa Hotel, and we were greeted by a younger receptionist who spoke impecable english. The room we were given was nice and clean, well furnished and a very reasonable price the have the most amazing swimming pool too. The young receptioist helped us plan and book our dive trip to Bunaken and he managed to get us a good rate for accomodation and Diving for 7 days. This hotel was close enough to the Shopping malls and it is easy enough to get a Taxi from the front. We did a day trip around the country side of Minahasa which I found very interesting visiting local villages, lake Tonado to have lunch at a fish Restaurant as well as a thermal area. We hung out alot at the Local shopping Mall, going to the movies, eating JCO donuts which are the best in the world. Manado is not yet geared up for International Tourist which is awesome, staff who work in Hospitality speak limited english which was fine we soon learnt alot of Bahasa most Tourist only seem to come here for 1 day and then they go straight out to Dive resorts, however I think that Manado is a great spot to explore. I would really recomend going to Sulawesi now, before it becomes over run with Tourist like Bali.

It was nice with the swimming pool and easy to get around in Manado city. Just in front of the hotel you can pickup a public minibus or taxi, around 300 meters walking distance to a big mall or the beach side. We were stayed in a room, simple one and it was ok due to the price they offered.

From the front of the hotel I thought it just the ordinary simple hotel in the cwnter of Manado City. But when I got in I can see almost the beach and the city of Manado from above. The hotel have a full path for you to go up and has a nice swimming pool at the top at the hotel. You can enjoy swimming while watching the scenery of the beach and Manado city.

Deluxe room on the second floor( about 50$) was ok for one night stay. Clean, nice balcony. Otherwise - very basic, with some things falling apart. Sleep was good and yes, it is nicer, cozier then Selebes.

As this was a short stop-over on the way to the islands, I chose for a cheaper room at $30 a night. What a folly! I was given a room at the front of the hotel. Being close to New Year's this meant that I not only had to cope with noisy street traffic, but also fire works exploding all night long.

Even if circumstances were better, I doubt that I would have had a good night's sleep anyway. The room was dirty in a never-cared-for way and the bathroom smelt like a sewer. There was no plug for the grimy bed- side light, the walls were moldy and the bed linen grey and stained. Ugghhhh...

The cherry on this cake of disaster is that the smokers' balcony was right outside my door - now how disgusting is that first thing in the morning??

I believe that some of the rooms have been renovated, but they are of course more expensive. I would have expected more for $30, and would definitely stay elsewhere next time.
