We stayed in Soechi International for one night, mostly because they have an airport shuttle for free. When we arrived at Medan airport, indeed a driver from Soechi was waiting for us, which was nice at that time (11.30 p.m.) The hotel itself was big with a huge entrance hall, but it all seemed a bit outdated. Our room (superior, because standard rooms weren't available anymore) was big as well, with a kingsize bed. Unfortunately, the blankets showed several spots, although washed afterwards. The breakfast was a real dissapointment: the asian breakfast looked extensive, the intercontinental breakfast, on the contrairy, contained only some dry toast, very very sweet pineapple marmelade, small parts that looked like cheese and some tasteless cornflakes. In conclusion: the free airport shuttle was a good thing, but the rest didn't fit our expectations.

Check in takes 20 minutes despite having only 2 guests checking in and 2 counter staff.
Order food, takes 25 minutes to deliver.
Internet very slow.
Very old hotel and stuffy.
This is the kind of hotel where busses of tourist come.
Room is big thought.
Breakfast no table to seat.
Have airport transfer.

We are very amazed at the free hotel shuttle to & from Kuala Namu Airport which is around 1 hour from the Medan city center.
The free hotel shuttle really did saved us some transportation fees by taking a taxi, min. about 150,000 rupiah per trip.

The staffs at the hotel are very friendly and they are more than willing to assist us with our luggage.

The elevator and rooms of the hotel seemed to be a bit dated but still in an acceptable
condition.
Overall we are satisfied with the condition of the room.

But the sleep quality during the day time is poor as there is a busy road next to the hotel and even we are located at 10th floor, we can still hear the HORN from the vehicle on road.

Another thing is that this hotel will NOT allow late check out, even up to 1 hour,
check out after 12pm, will be charged 25% of room price.

Room Tip: Choose NON Smoking floor and higher floor to avoid noise from road.

Thank you for your nice review. We are delighted to know that you enjoyed your stay despite the noise from the street during the day which is beyond our control.

A very nominal fee is charged for late check out if the room is still needed after 12pm. Otherwise, our bellboy could assist with luggage storage and the use of our Fitness Centre is still free for our house guest.

Stayed over the CNY period. Overall, the hotel looks and feel very tired, definately in need of complete overhaul/refurbishment. Same goes for the front desk staff. Basic duties done, please don't bother me with anything else attitude. Breakfast has variety but very slow on replenisment or even empty serving trays for the duration of breakfast! Either they are understaffed or the chefs are inefficient in their prep-work or poor in their estimation of the amount of food required! As for the hotel rooms, basic amenities provided, just bath towels, no hand or face towels provided. Plus point, hairdryer in bathroom. Bathtub already pass use-by date. Housekeeping works hard to maintain room clealiness but I guess they are fighting a losing battle due to the age of the hotel. The aircon in my room was never cold even when set to an 16C! and even after being attended to by maintainance. Location of hotel is not to far from some of the newer and bigger malls like Sun Plaza, Medan Plaza Fair and Centrepoint which is located next to the Kuala Namu Airport shuttle train station. The clincher in choosing this hotel is the complimentary return airport transfer which would take an hour either way. Taxi rides cost a minimum Rp 25,000/- in city even though the meter shows a lower amount. Avoid the blue Karsa taxi found in the taxi-rank at Medan Plaza Fair. The drivers demand Rp50,000/- minimum!!! Walk out to the main road, look to the right and you'll find the reputable Bluebird taxi-rank.

Room Tip: Rooms must be above 10th floor to have better view of city.

We stayed just one night because we were on our way to Lake Toba. This hotel offers a FREE shuttle to/from the airport. I emailed ahead of time and it was arranged. When we landed, a nice man was there waiting for us and drove us the one hour to the hotel on rough roads with lots of traffic. Having the shuttle was a huge bonus We ate dinner at the hotel and it was pretty good. Lots of variety for an ok price considering it's a nice hotel. The room was spacious, the matress and sheets were good and the bathroom was also pretty nice. Overall it wasn't the newest/cleanest hotel ever, but it was a great value and we had a good sleep before our trip to Lake Toba. I'd recommend this hotel if you need a night or two in Medan and are coming/going to KNO airport. A train ticket from Medan to KNO is $6 USD one way per person, money we saved because of the free shuttle. The music in the hallways seemed to be quite high/noisy, but maybe that was because of the upcoming Chinese New Year celebration, we're not sure. We could easily hear it in our room though.

Room Tip: We asked for a room on a higher floor, and got placed on 8th floor. There wasn't much of a view...

Formerly Novotel Hotel, but still claimed to be Novotel when we call.
First check in and found a cockroach in the bathroom and have a breakfast the next morning and found another small roach on my table.

Service was suck and the surrounding is filthy, poor maintenence

That should say it all

Room Tip: Should stay at other Accor Group Hotels, and not at this poorly managed and service Hotel

Previously managed by Novotel, this hotel is now under local management. Very ill managed, rooms have dirty stained curtains, carpets were not vacuumed, Ordered room service at 10pm, called them at 10.45pm & asked where was my food, they said it's being processed, 15 min later a waiter knocked my door asking what had I ordered. I asked for the manager, told him about the mess up, showed him the unclean carpets, the wet toilet & the stained curtains, but I got the impression that he was too young & inexperienced to manage the situation accordingly.
I don't suggest anyone to stay in this hotel, you can get better hotels in Medan at lesser rates than this hotel charges.
