“Excellent option to stay overnight in Bajawa”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 April 2014

This is presumably your best option to stay overnight in Bajawa. The place is clean and the breakfast was the best we had on our tour through Flores. The only surprising fact is that the Dutch owners did not make any effort to decorate the place. No pictures on the walls, nothing. And if you see how ugly the cables for the reading lamps are fixed you wonder whether any of the owners was present when these works were done.

Stayed room 5. Bed left no room for movement unless you're a hobbit,
enough to open cases and access basin in room. 'Bathroom' bijou with
shower and toilet, plus a single towel each. Shower and transform the
whole 2 Sq Meters into a flood. Need to wash hands? - take a handful of
liquid soap from bathroom to bedroom, wash then search for the towel.
Brush your teeth and bang your nose on the glass shelf over the tiny
basin. Breakfast - poorly cooked eggs with some " homecooked gooh"
they called bread. Overall, keep your shoes on 'clean'.
It's home stay, but this poorly planned? Maybe good for backpackers, if
your expectations are greater, avoid. Whilst there, access was via a leap
over a channel under reconstruction, no alternative access or signage to
suggest a problem, highly dangerous in my view, thou' I'm no H & S fan.
2nd day at 17:00 no power and as a result no water either, plus the now
un light jump over a meter deep channel.

Room Tip: Don't use room 5!

Very clean and nice place. Twin with private bathroom 5 meters away from the room for 300000 IDR. Great breakfast with a good fruit juice, a large fruit platter and main to chose from different options.

We had a very good stay in Happy Happy Hotel. They offered many options for breakfast - homemade bread and even the traditional nasi goreng. The room and bathroom is spacious and was very clean. The dutch couple Henk and Mary are very kind and very helpful. We rented a well maintained motorbike from Henk to visit some neighbouring traditional villages and Paga.
We checked several hotels and this was the best option as for cleanliness and atmosphere. Only downside is that you are not waken by birds, because it is - as most hotels in this city - near the mainroad.

We stayed here for one night in February. There is a friendly hostel-like ambience, and we met some interesting like-minded travellers. The room was a good size with very basic bathroom facilities, but adequate for one night. We did not meet the owners, but the manager was helpful. Breakfast was very good with fresh fruit (very welcome, but sadly missing in many establishments despite the abundance and variety) pancakes and lovely coffee. And reliable wifi, if that is important! Accommodation on Flores can be difficult, but I'd definitely recommend this place.

Room Tip: Just ask to see the room you are assigned, they vary in size.

This place has most things a traveler needs. Simple rooms with a locking cupboard (not safe), communal space to meet others, free water and tea or coffee free on request. It wasn't full when we arrived but the second night at least 4 walk in couples were turned away. Alfonse is a good guide for the villages. My only criticism is that we asked for a 6.30 breakfast but although the staff were up and in the kitchen they didn't do ours until 7. A small thing but irritating.
