Had coffee and carrot cake with a friend here last week. Quite coffee shop with local artists on display in the gallery. Closed on Monday. Good prices. On road from the old airport in Mataram as you head to Senggigi.

We are repeat visitors to the Beruqaq Coffee House and Gallery. The location is not ideal (it's located in between Senggigi and Mataram), but the atmosphere is lovely. Beautiful pieces of art from a variety of local and international artists adorn the walls. The Berugaq mainly serves snacks and beverages, though they have added a wide variety of delicious sandwiches to the menu. The prices are all very competitive, and, in fact, you'd be hard pressed to find a better cup of coffee or piece of dessert for less anywhere on the island. They also serve the BEST chocolate cake on the island - maybe the best anywhere!

Free wifi, non-smoking (a definite plus), and friendly staff. We'll keep coming back.

No need to rush there you will not find anything very exciting. As for spending a couple of hours there, I would rather spend my time counting goats walking down the nearby road. This seems to have been reviewed as some sort of cafe 'destination', it most certainly is not. There is nothing all that wrong with it but it is certainly not anything to go out of your way to visit. As for being number 9 restaurant in Lombok that is absolutely ridiculous.

Let us not get too carried away! The best restaurant in Mataram, you must be joking! In fact it is not even in Mataram but in Ampenan, half way from the current airport and the market. But then half the listed restaurant for Lombok on Trip Advisor are in incorrect locations, some half an island away!

Just a coffee shop with a few very limited snacks, it is a nice relaxing place with a variety of local art [from Sasak, Balinese and foreigner artists] around the walls.

We stopped here when we were spending a few days in Mataram and found it to be a very nice retreat. The Berugaq is essentially an international style coffee shop with all of the usual specialized coffee beverages and baking - a nice, comfortable place to spend an hour or two to escape the sound of motorcycles. Aside from comfortable seating and free wireless, the shop walls are filled with work from some excellent local artists. My sense is that the art on display here is priced higher than local markets - but it is very good work.

My understanding is that the Berugaq is run by a non-profit foundation. Revenues from the shop are used to support local development activities, and English courses are offered on the second floor.

This is not a place for a meal - but rather a quite hideaway to escape for a few hours - or a place to go when you REALLY need that great cup of coffee.
