Review of Templars Tunnel

Templars Tunnel
Reviewed 5 June 2014

Fabulous insight into the complex layers of civilization lying beneath present day Acre. Good explanatory broadcasts, if a little infantile. Probably meant for school children, but gives a good introduction to the Citadel (Crusader Fortress) where explanatory audio guide is much more informative.

The guy on the desk could have been friendlier. When we were there the place was empty, the tunnel is low in places and quite well lit, but it is a fairly short walk with minimal information.
Tickets to this can be combined with other attractions, Citadel, Haman etc

Unless you suffer from claustrophobia, the tunnels are worth exploring and are covered by the entrance ticket.

Basically its an old tunnel. Nothing much to see inside. It's a good shortcut across town to the seaside.

First of all, it took us nearly half an hour to find this place, even with a map in hand. The signage could be better.
Once inside, we walked downstairs where there was a movie playing, but the room was full, so we headed into the tunnel. the floor is clear in spots with some sort of artifact displayed beneath. One must duck in order to walk through a portion of the tunnel, and I found this position a bit difficult to maintain for the distance involved.
We could have probably gotten more out of this had we taken the time to read all of the placards, but since it had taken us so long to locate the place, we were tired and did not feel like making the effort to read all of the signs.
Can't say if I think it was worth the effort, but admittance was included in the price of the ticket with the Crusade fortress. So, why not?
