“Great Customer Service - Thanks, Moran Peleg!”
Reviewed 29 January 2014

While we are not booked to stay at The Efendi Hotel in Acre for a few months, I wanted to pass along kudos for the tremendous customer service and assistance I have received so far from the Hotel's management with an SLH issue I was having. A special thanks to Moran Peleg. I can only hope that the Efendi and its staff lives up to the high bar they have set for themselves when it comes time for our visit. I suspect we will not be disappointed, and will report back with an update. So far so good!

The Efendi is a beautifully restored boutique hotel with magnificent detailed paintings on the ceilings of great common rooms. Our bedroom was beautiful and well appointed, except we had a double/queen size comforter for a king bed. The bathroom is elegant but can be slippery so be very careful. The breakfast is lovely and different from the standard Israeli buffet.
The hotel can be challenging to find, but is definitely worth the hunt. Uri Buri's amazing fish restaurant is about a 3 minute walk. It is one of the best in the land.

We (two couples) had a great weekend here. The decorators thought of all the small details and it is well felt. The atmosphere is inspiring. Everything is very convenient and well handled. The rooms are marvelous, the beds are very comfortable, every room has a coffee machine, elite tee bags, delicious Turkish delights, and free bar with water, milk and soft drinks. We also ordered a diner which was superb, by the tradition of the chef who own the place - Uri (Buri). and finally - the service was more than excellent, with very good recommendations of things to do and eat in the neighborhood.
To sum, if you are planing to visit this region, staying at this hotel will surely upgrade your vacation.
The hotel has only 12 rooms, and it is not suitable for kids.

The hotel is actually tow very old buildings, wonderfully reconstructed and decorated, in a way that gives the filling of a true ancient palace. The rooms are comfortable (and we had the most simple) and the stuff are most friendly. Breakfast is served so generously and is so delicious that you can not eat until diner. The location is good, just a few minutes walk from the Bazar and the main attractions of the old city.

Room Tip: all rooms are quiet, but it is always better to get sea view.

There aren't many stylish boutique hotels in Northern Israel that can be used as a base for exploring Galilee, Haifa etc. and so we were very happy about the Efendi Hotel. It's evident that a lot of love went into the restoration, and it's a really unique and romantic place. We sadly only stayed one night but I'm glad we did the drive from Tel Aviv to do so. It was our tenth visit to Israel, and we're certainly happy that we visited the Efendi and the city. Great breakfast, very friendly and helpful staff.

Amazing building, beautifully prepared rooms -- even if the pictures on the website promise perhaps a little more than what you find in reality. Definitely check out the wine cellar and the breakfast room is gorgeous as well. We didn't use the Spa. The staff was very friendly and helpful and booked us a table at Uri Buri (which was a disappointment, however, both in terms of food and atmosphere). The only downside is the neighbourhood around the hotel, which didn't feel particularly comfortable after sunset (quite dirty, few people as it was off-season, no streetlights). That might be a different story during the summer months, however.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Nestled in the picturesque narrow lanes of Acre, the Efendi Hotel overlooks the historic city walls and the magnificent Mediterranean Sea beyond. The unique structure of this hotel combines two ancient houses that have hundreds of years of history stored within their walls. These houses were meticulously reconstructed and merged into one building before being converted into a boutique hotel.. Complex preservation and restoration work over a period of eight years gave birth to a gorgeous, breathtaking pearl that was truly a labor of love. Thought was invested in each and every detail of the preservation work, which was performed under the supervision of the Antiquities Authority. Artisans were specially flown in from Italy in order to undertake this delicate work, as well as the restoration of the beautiful ceilings. All rooms in the hotel are furnished and equipped to the highest standards, and each room has its own unique character and style. Some rooms' ceilings feature illustrations, while others are made from preserved wood. Most of the windows offer sea views, while others look out over the ancient city of Acre and the scenic mountains of the Western Galilee. ... more   less
