Acre (Akko in Hebrew) is not exactly a tourist destination, but I didn't want to stay in Haifa again, so we tried this place out. It was me and my wife and the kids (5 and 2) and my mother. We got a studio which was spacious and had two tv's and a mini-fridge that worked well. That's the good news. My wife took a bath and water leaked all over the bathroom floor and we had to get the repairman to come fix the drain, and then the cleaning lady to mop. And then our sofa bed broke, but at least the repairman came quickly both times we needed him (and we only stayed two nights mind you). And then there's the doors. They are quite heavy, which is good for keeping sound out, but they are heavy which means that they slam easily, and I heard numerous low thuds through the night. SO if you you are light sleeper (and I am) then this is a problem.
There is good news though: the breakfast (kosher) was pretty good, and the staff friendly. Also the pool is very large and the kids enjoyed it a great deal. There is a also a playground on the lawn which they liked.
In terms of location it is close to Acre, and that includes the train station. (Though it's not walking distance for most people.)
If you drive down highway four a few minutes you get to Lev ha Mifratz, a big mall on the outskirts of Haifa where you can get dinner and a movie. There are many restaurants in that area, but you need to drive through an industrial area first, which is not so nice.
