“Walking Distance to Everything - But They have Parking Too”
Reviewed 12 November 2012

We had a nice, high-ceilinged room on the second floor, with a view over the rooftops of old Acre. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was adequate but not as many choices as at other hotels where we stayed this trip. They have a parking area just for the hotel, located immediately adjacent to it. The ambiance of actually being inside the city wall was very interesting and fun. You can walk to the port and the other historical attractions, through the markets and along part of the walls.

Awesome location and setting within the ancient city walls, easily reachable by car, convenient parking right in front of hotel. Perfect location right in the old city, but still away from the crowds, as it is located in a rather quiet corner of the old city. If in Akko I would definitely recommend this hotel. Very tastefully renovated in a historic building. All modern amenities are there plus the feeling of being in a truly historical and unique place. Unbeatable! Very friendly staff who can recommend great restaurants to you. Breakfast is fantastic; typical Israeli/middle eastern breakfast presented with lots of love. Definitely two thumbs up!

My family and I stayed over at Akkotel for one night. The location is spot on - you cannot get better than this really. It is close to the sea, restaurants and the market. The room we stayed in had plenty of space and it was decorated nicely. Although the bathroom was clean, we found the pillows and towels rather dirty and, generally, the room was dusty and a bit neglected. In fact there were obvious marks on the pillows and the receptionist, albeit apologetic, felt quite embarrassed by the fact that the pillows were so obviously filthy! On the plus side, the service was very good and the location is great but I would have a few words with the cleaner if I was the owner.

We are a family of four and spent one night at the Akkotel in Acre this past October. We had a corner room on the third floor that slept 4. The room is laid out such that there is a large queen sized bed on the main level and loft above with two individual beds.

The room was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the shower worked well. As mentioned in another review the traffic noise was louder than expected, and there was a wedding celebration in the park adjacent to hotel that had music throbbing loud and long into the night. While this is hardly the hotels fault, I suspect this is a popular spot for weddings.

The loft area that our children slept in had a very low ceiling, so low that my 12 year old daughter who is about 152 centimeters tall (about 5 feet) had to duck to use the space. My son, who is much taller hit his head once and found the space frustrating.

Our biggest frustration with the hotel was the fact that the free in-room wifi they advertised did not work in our room. What compounded our frustration was the attitude of the staff who blamed it on our devices (iPads). THat was far from true however as I could use it fine if I went out in the hallway and stood near the closet where they had the wifi router. I could actually see the signal strength slowly disappear as I approached the door to our room. Wifi was available in the lobby, and I suspect it works okay in the rooms closest to the elevator. When we asked the hotel for a small adjustment on our bill due to this issue they indicated that they could not do so since we had booked through booking.com. This was a new revelation to us.

There is also a nice roof access that gives you a good view over the city. We went up at night and then I went back up in the morning to take some pictures of the city from there. I wish I would have seen it in full light first as there were a lot of pigeon dropping on the railing around the roof and no doubt me put our hands in them in the dark the night before.

Breakfast was fine, but certainly nothing special.

Room Tip: If you want to use the wifi in room, ask for a room near the elevator when you book.

Dear Guest, thank you for sharing your experience with TripAdvisor community. Concerning the issues you addressed, we would like to mention that we do mention to our guests during the reservation that the Loft ceiling height is 1.6 cm. We are sorry if this caused the children some inconvenience.
Second, we have checked the WiFi system in the floors and we added more routers.
As you know Akkotel building is historical and built inside the walls, there are thick stone walls inside that affects the WiFi connectivity.

Thank you again for your notes that make it possible for us to improve our service.

Very nice hotel located in the historical center of Akko, actually it's build inside the city walls, which attributes a special atmosphere to the hotel design. We had a nice two-floor room with stone walls and with comfortable medieval-style bed.
The negative points:
The wifi in the rooms doesn't work. (only in the lobby) There is not much light in the room (which is nice if you want a romantic/ medieval atmosphere, but it terrible if you would like to read a little before going to bed) The windows go to the road, so sometimes during the night (we stayed on saturday) we were waken up with the sound of the cars passing with loud music.

Room Tip: As mentioned above we had a room on the road side and it was very loud

The Akkotel is a charming property built into the old city walls ... its to one side of the old city but everything is within good walking distance. The rooms are odd but in a good way - full of charm and clean and full of character. The staff are friendly and very accommodating and the breakfast is of a good standard.

Room Tip: As all rooms are individual - ask to see a few before you choose which one you want to stay in.

From the outside and the lobby this looks like a wonderful place. However, we did not feel particularly welcome by any staff. The room was drab and needed updating. Cleanliness was okay, but could have been much better. There were cars driving by playing very loud music until 2 a.m. Overall we were not impressed with our stay.
