Owner description: Sprawling over the winding streets up the Galilean hillsides, this bustling open-air bazaar features a wide variety of small shops such as the Bride’s, Blacksmith’s, Goldsmith’s and Vegetable markets.

If you happen to be at the Basilica of Annunciation, head north for a few blocks and you'll hit the colourful and bustling alleyways of the "souk" (Arabic for market), near the White Mosque. Here, all sorts of things are sold: textile, rugs, hookas, brick-bracks, assorted dry goods, food, etc. I'm not big on shopping, but it's really nice to wander around a bit. If your bartering skills are up to snuff (good), you can get away with a few nice souvenirs.

Go north for a few more blocks and you'll find the Old City.

We wandered by accident through the old town and then down through the market to the Basilica (which is what we were searching for). It was lovely, though -atmospheric old buildings, tiny streets and alleys.. A good explore, a good walk!

A short walk from the Basilica and the bus station. The Old Market has an assortment of goods for purchase. It is a nice stop to make if you are in the vicinity.

Easy access, very clean and like all eastern markets vibrant and fresh. A bit complex getting around.

I have lived in Nazareth for years and can still get lost in the market. But it is, in the end, a normal Middle Eastern market, perhaps cleaner and a bit more organized than others, but still, there is nothing special about it.

That having been said, if you are going to take the time to visit the Basilica (and you should), and perhaps Christ Anglican Church (a block away) or the Jewish Synagogue where Jesus preached, according to tradition, then do take some time to wander around the market and see what you find.

Personally, I only go there when I need to buy something for cheap. And if you have a car, don't expect to find parking--what little there is (if you can find it) is perpetually full of locals' cars.
