“Great views at a good hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 July 2013 via mobile

The balcony view of the Med is excellent. The hotel is clean and the food typical of tourist hotel buffet fare that is common in Israel. Use of Wi-fi comes with a charge in the room. It's a good place for a "first night" in Israel, but not a destination hotel.

Very helpful, very friendly and great restaurant / bar staff. Good food, rooms always clean. Any advice needed was always provided and any queries were dealt with professionally. Great Spa! Highly recommended, fab staff which can be a rarity in a hotel these days.

An horrific stay at Ramada Netanya
Our family booked a stay at the Ramada, hoping to have a great family vacation in a 5 star deluxe hotel, as advertised by Ramada boasting their intent to provide our “personal paradise…providing guests with unmatched personal attention”.
Having traveled to over 30 countries and stayed hundreds of nights at numerous hotels worldwide, from Asia to Europe and the Americas I certainly can compare the value and quality of a hotel.
Let me start by saying that Ramada Netanya is one of the worst “5-star” hotels I have ever stayed at.
I have been to cleaner, better maintained 2-star motels with better more friendly service than in the terrible Ramada Netanya.
Heed my warning – this is one Hotel from Hell, you do not want to stay at. Not only because of the high prices (around 430$ per night!!) but because of the following systematic problems:
1. Moldy rooms, terrible smell and a bathtub and sink that have holes, mold and mildew.
2. Terrible check-in and service throughout our stay by obnoxious and arrogant employees and duty managers.
3. The worst low quality food and restaurant service of any hotel I have stayed at, closer in “quality” to a self-service, gas-station convenience store than a 5-star restaurant. Not to mention dangerous health hazards (such as serving uncooked chicken).
4. Arrogant management that in indifferent to guest complaints (and there were many a disgruntled guest all around us.
5. Terrible pool experience.
So let me elaborate on our experience, and by the way, I have plenty of pictures documenting everything I describe!
1. Check-in – we arrived around 16:00 after being informed that rooms are available from 15:00. Notwithstanding the fact that when we arrived the hotel was empty and 3 different check-in personnel where there, none of them offered to assist us and were indifferent to our standing by the check-in counter. We asked them to help us. It took us 25 minutes to get a room. First the receptionist told us our room was not ready. I asked when it might be ready and was answered: “probably with 10 minutes”. I asked her how she knew that and requested that she verify this because we were tired after a long travel. She seemed unhappy at my request which “forced” her to pick up the phone and call housekeeping. She told us it would take around 1 hour and that we should sit and wait. I asked her to check whether we could get another room which is ready. We discussed this “unconventionel” option for 20 minutes until finally she agreed to give us another room. Let me mention that according to the hotel staff there was less than 50% occupancy, so why wouldn’t you agree to transfer us to another room?
2. Room: Although the hotel boasts luxurious suites, we were given a small room for our family of 4. The bathroom was terrible. Full of cracks, mold and mildew. We received only 3 towels and hardly any toiletries as is the standard in all hotels. The children's bed was not made and we had to call housekeeping. They proceeded to open the closet and remove wrinkled bad smelling bed sheets and blankets which they put on the bed. They were unwilling to change these to fresh linen.
3. “FOOD” (and gross exaggeration in definition): We had the “pleasure” of eating both dinner as well as breakfast at the hotel’s ONLY “restaurant” which is described on their website as: “including gourmet restaurants where every meal is an unforgettable experience in culinary art”. Well, they were RIGHT ABOUT THAT – it WAS an unforgettable experience that still caused us nightmares (I have pictures as well as videos of the meals we had).
3.1. Dinner: We came into dinner and grabbed a table. There was no hostess around and no servers. It seemed there was a buffet so we sat down and went on to get food. Most of the food was industrial grade products. For example, Pizza (55-80 NIS). We saw a kitchen employee open the refrigerator and take out a plastic wrapped TV-dinner style frozen pizza. He proceeded to cut the plastic wrap, take out the cold, pre-fabricated pizza and stick it into a toaster-oven.!!! A few minutes later he took it out while the dough was uncooked and white. Well what do you expect when you put frozen or chilled food into an oven for a few minutes? My children wanted some breaded chicken tenders and pasta with tomato sauce which were on the buffet as well. Well the quickly stopped eating and said the food was inedible. We inspected the food and saw the chicken breast was not fully cooked which beyond having a terrible taste, actually present a serious hygienic health hazard!!. The pasta was overcooked and the “tomato” sauce had the consistency of red water. Totally bland and tasteless!. The refused to eat the watered-down soup. We tried the meat which was inedible. Most of it was totally dry, hard as a shoe sole, and consisting primarily of unrendered fat – clearly the lowest quality (frozen?) meat. We wanted some vegetables and saw what seemed as grilled or cooked vegetables. Upon closer inspections we saw that the dish was made from preprocessed, canned vegetables and not from FRESH vegetables. Even the Chef admitted they were not using fresh vegetable but argued that these were not canned but frozen vegetable. Why would you not serve fresh carrots, zucchini, peppers and tomatoes in a 5-start gourmet restaurant in sunny Israel where fresh fruits and vegetables are great, plentiful and cheap?! They put some cups with oil, vinegar, and lemon juice (that looked preserved and not fresh) and expected each guest to make their own salad dressing. The accompanying salads and sides looked and tasted like they were taken out of a preservative saturated tin can a few moments earlier. Deserts you ask? Well, there were a few supermarket pre-made quality pies of the lowest quality imaginable accompanied by a bowl of small apples and pears (remember we were in Israel were there are a virtually limitless variety of fresh local fruit of the highest quality). There was not tea or coffee provided to us. There were no servers for the first part of the meal and later a few came and simply stood at the back and ignored the diners. Our used plates were never removed and we were not offered any water and drinks. In summary, we were served fast-food quality food (and that’s a compliment to the horrific and dangerous food) at 3-star Michelin restaurant prices. No offence, but we felt as if we had breakfast in an airport McDonalds concession. Well actually not, because I think there we would get coffee.

Well breakfast was not much different. Lowest quality food. They dumped tuna fish straight out ot a preserved tin can into a bowl. No servers were available. No one at the eggs station, no fresh coffee and tea, only an automatic office-style coffee machine that spewed boiling coffee and to our disgust filled it with sour, spoiled milk witch was dangerous to drink. Once again an array of pre-fabricated, industrialized food of the lowest quality was plated around us. The cheese (not sure made form real milk because the taste was terrible) was of lower quality than you would get at a regular supermarket.

4. Kids Club: Broken machines, low quality pool table with missing balls, malfunctioning computer games and an indifferent staff that often just closes the place and puts a sign “we’ll be back”.
5. Attitude and service: I requested to talk with the hotel manager to discuss our experience but were REFUSED!!!
5.1. We talked to a duty manager Mr. David. When we shared the dining experience he answered: “what do you expect in a hotel? If you want decent food go to a restaurant”. He refused to enable us to speak to a more senior manager.
5.2. The next day we talked to a Duty Manager call Ms. Noa. She, too, said she would “investigate” our complaints. She called us later and said:” I checked your comments, and the Chef told me there is nothing wrong with the food” and that was the extent of here response. We repeatedly asked to speak to senior manager of the hotel and she adamantly refused. I told her I was unhappy with here response which ignored our specific complaints but she simply ignored us and said that “you cannot speak to anyone but me”.
5.3. Both David and Noa where arrogant, obnoxious and clearly uncaring about their guests.
6. The hotel staff are completely indifferent and never smile. When walking throughout the hotel, the staff never smile, and never greet you in any way.
7. The housekeeping uses the main guest elevators instead of their designated service elevators. You get into an elevator and then you get a room-cleaning cart pushed into your face, rolling on my children’s feet with the smell of disinfectants invading your nose.
8. Try to go to the pool. Well they require a special card to allocate you a towel. You get the smallest thinnest pool towel I have ever seen and you cannot have two. You need to return the towel to a desk to get your card back, or you will have to pay.
We couldn’t be happier to leave the Ramada Netanya which is one of the worst hotel’s we have seen anywhere in the world!
I hope I have contributed to other people and saved them from a similar ordeal which ruined our vacation.
Stay clear of the Ramada Netanya! There are plenty of better hotels at better prices.

This hotel is located directly across the street from a beautiful beach. We arrived at the hotel quite early (before noon), since the flights arrive early from the U.S. East Coast, and we fully expected to have to wait until mid afternoon to check in. However, the hotel staff was extremely accommodating and allowed us to check in immediately. The room was beautiful, with a separate bedroom and huge balcony which faced the beach. The room was very spacious and modern. The buffet dinner and breakfast were wonderful, with a large variety of delicious choices. Everything in the room and entire hotel was clean and updated. All of the staff were gracious and efficient. I can't imagine staying anywhere else when we return.
