Margoa Hotel Netanya
Ranked #6 of 21 Hotels in Netanya
Reviewed 9 June 2012

The Hotel:
Supposedly recently re-furbished but has the feel that this was done to a budget. Nothing is extravagant but it is clean, functional and works. It is 3 star and delivers to that level.

The Rooms:
Most of the hotel's rooms are side facing so have no view to the sea although those on the right side (looking from the front) have windows looking towards the sea. The building opposite (mentioned in other reviews) block much of the view in any event so this is not really the place to stay if you want a balcony with a sea view! There are a few rooms that do deliver that but for 50% more. We had a twin bedded room with very small shower room and kitchenette - only kettle provided but you can get tea and coffee and water 24/7 in the restaurant. Everything worked well including the air conditioning, TV and wi-fi connection which is frree. Anyone large might fight with our shower room so might want a room with a bath.

Breakfast:
If you are expecting either an English fry up or a typical continental breakfast you will be disappointed. Breakfast is a typical Israeli affair with a choice of salads, cheeses, yoghurts, a little cereal, scrambled and boiled eggs and bread, butter and jams and fruit. There was more than enough to choose from but if you, like me, cant quite countenance pickled herring and tuna salad for breakfast you lose out. When in Rome, do as the Romans or in this case do as the Israelis and you should be satisfied. The only criticism we would level is that the bread was boring, nearly always only white and pretty tasteless. Some good brown bread or croissants wouldn't have gone amiss.

Service:
This was nothing less than superb. Everyone from the lady who cleaned our room, through those in the dining room to those at reception were exceptionally helpful and friendly and went out of their way to make sure we were happy. They provided equally the best service we have experienced anywhere.

The Location:
It is very centrally located with easy access to the beach and the town and local restaurants. Although parking is chargeable outside the hotel there is plenty of free parking within 10 minutes walk - which is good for you after eating all that Israeli food!

Conclusion:
This is a budget hotel and has no pool or nice terrace to sit around on. Recognise it for what it is - good value, excellent service and great location and you wont be disappointed.

Room Tip: There is a room (or 2?) with balcony and sea view at the front of the hotel on the 6th floor but you...

When I initially arrived at the hotel, I was a bit disappointed by it's appearance. A letter had fallen off the name and to be honest it looked rather shabby. However, the staff were very friendly up on entering and couldn't do enough to help. There is parking to the rear of the hotel, which is street parking but it's free. The room and facilities were functional, not luxurious, looked a bit tired but it was fine. The breakfast was a bit weak, with watered down juice and some sad looking salads, but again the staff were very friendly.

The location was good, next to all the restaurants and the beach, although some of the surrounding buildings were a bit shabby too, there is obviously a lot of regeneration in the area. It was a welcome break after the chaos of Tel Aviv.

We stayed in the hotel which in american standards is a motel/long stay.
Location is great and there is a beach access right in front of the hotel (need to walk down the path through the park) and the hotel service is great.
The breakfest is not continental but more israeli type of a breakfast. vegies tuna cheese yogurt and boiled eggs accompanied with coffee and tea or juice. and yes there is bread of all sorts.
The receptionist are great and deal with any request happily.
Rooms are a bit outdated but good bed and good shower compensate.
There is no hotel parking but there are 2 parking lots very close by.

Room Tip: We recommend to get a back room in the corner as you get a bigger room with bigger bath.

If you require a, no-frills, budget hotel you could do a lot worse. Like most of Netanya, it is a bit jaded, 1960's - 1970's. We specified twin beds but were given a double room. One call to Reception and it was changed to twin beds. No parking on site but street parking available right outside. The buffet breakfast was plentiful and very good for the all inclusive priice. We had a sea view room with balcony-come-fire-escape but another hotel has been built right in front of the Margoa so the view is limited. The hotel was full with a coach party during our stay but it did not seem overcrowded.

Room Tip: Sea view is preferable

Words cannot describe how wonderful a stay I had at the Margoa, from checking in to checking out the staff tried their absolute utmost to make our stay enjoyable, relaxing and happy. The rooms were very clean and quiet, fabulously comfortable beds (unusual in Israel) and glorious, full breakfasts. The free hot/cold drinks were fabulous and the meal Friday night in a private dining area was just perfect!. Thank you to all the wonderful staff for making our stay perfect!

Essentially, an Israeli version of motel 6. Clean, reasonably quiet , good location , reasonable price. Breakfast was average/better than average for buffet style.

Cons: no parking included; but lot about 75 yards away was 15 shekels ($4.50) -with no in/out return privilege.
Location- very near Herzl st and Beach

Room Tip: upper floor

Richard and the staff could not have been friendlier. Israel is expensive , but this is good value.
Free Wi Fi, and a clean room. I would say Premier Inn class.
Breakfast adequate, location great, room 3 star+ standard.
I have paid more and got less.

Room Tip: Rooms away from lifts are best.
