Scots Hotel is by far the best hotel on the Sea of Galilee. There are different grades of rooms, we stayed in the upgraded but there was not a view of the beautiful Sea of Galilee from our rooms. However, there are numerous places; gardens, porches, pathways, from which to see this remarkable and historically sacred body of water. Our room was large and had all the amenities. the bathroom was very large. The buffet breakfast they offer is great, with lots of choices. (It is not kosher). The bar is open until late. It is nice but pricey. We went to the pool as well; it is nothing to write home about, but if you have children it would be a nice option. This hotel is a great base from which to visit all the sites that are on the Sea; Capernaum, Mount of Beatitudes, Church of the Loaves and Fishes, etc. Tiberius itself is not really interesting and there is no shopping to speak of so get your souvenirs somewhere else. But the Scots is great!

Room Tip: If you can afford an upgrade try to get rooms in the buildings that face the Sea of Galilee. Even i...

went with family last summer - apologize for the tardy review. Well, how do i put this? certainly wasn't what i expected after reading the rave reviews. It is a pretty property though in Tiberias that doesn't really say much. Hotel is owned by the Church of Scottland so as a Jew visiting Israel for the first time in ~ 20 years, was surprised to see all the crosses everywhere as well as staunchly anti Israel tour guides preaching to their groups at the tables next door during breakfast. On the positive side, my kids had a great laugh when my 13 year old nick named the hotel "the ham and cheese hotel" after every single item on the room service menu had pork, ham or bacon on it. I will also add that it is not a great family/kids hotel. The vast majority of guests are adults and it felt like we were walking on eggshells at the pool hotel. This was quite different from all the other hotels on our trip that were thriving with kids.
The hotel to me will forever be remembered as the ham and cheese hotel!

Stayed in this property for three nights in June 2014. Absolutely beautiful setting, surrounded by lovely gardens, and I thought that the dining services were more than adequate. Great view of the Sea of Galilee.

The only issue I had was the wi-fi service was challenging, to say the least. I was busy when I got there and didn't log on for a couple of days and when I tried, I learned that my password had expired. Now I take part of the blame, but I am not used to passwords that expire if you don't use them. Also, the rather complicated passwords only work on a single device at a time. My wife and I travel with multiple devices (Mac, iPad, iPhones) and having to keep up with individual passwords was a bit of a problem.

Overall, I would definitely stay there again, and it was a pleasant experience.

In Tiberias, you will not find anything that looks like a 4 star and for sure not a 5 star hotel. The scots hotel is the only hotel with the facilities and the food you would expect from a 500 usd/night hotel. The garden is nice, the pool is comfortable, the food is quite ok. But when it comes to the rooms : we had a 22m2 room which hasn't be renovated since World War II. From the bathroom to the curtains, the bed and the furniture we had the greatest disappointment ever.

Room Tip: Only ask for "Antique Rooms"

The Scots hotel is very irregular in the local hotel scene of Tiberias, thanks to its authentic historical buildings, the astonoshing wine cellar, the gourmet kitchen with the variety of seafood, different kinds of cheese, interesting sausage and amazing salads - all made from marerial being planted in its breath taking garden with a beautiful panorama to the sea of galilee.

At the reception desk you can get a traditional scottish beverage named 'Hot Toddy' as much as you want. In the lobby there's a fire place with a nice view to the sea of galilee and it's fun to sit there and read a book quietly or have a cup of tea.

The Scots Hotel is for those who know to appreciate good food, historical place

Don't even know where to begin. Internet is a joke. They give you 2 complicated password/usernames with about 20 letters and numbers. Once entered,it takes 20 minutes before u r loged in,then 3 minutes before u r knocked off. The staff, especially at the bar and resturant are sad looking, miserable human beings who appear to hate you more than their jobs. For a while,I thought they were patients at an insane asylum. The lifeguard at the pool sits on his cell nonstop screaming loud enough for all to understand the conversation. There is no drink service at the pool, including no water or soda. You bake in 90 degree temperatures while dehydrating to the point of forming kidney stones. Not even a vending machine for water. When you enter your room, the mini bar is totally empty. You need to walk to the inmates at the front desk and order a mini bar package. When I asked why would one need to do that since in normal hotels, one is only charged for what you take from a mini bar,no answer was given. Let's move on to the fabulous in room air conditioning system. There r motion detectors in the rooms so when u leave the room, the air shuts off. Then when you return from a days adventure or dinner, you room has reverted to the 90 degree temperature of the outdoors. shameful on them,to waste such a beautiful hotel and grounds by treating you like you don't know what service a luxury hotel should provide.
