Description: The Plantation House has been lovingly restored based on its original plans, and actually rests on its original foundations. The 200-year-old trees which line the Bilenbi Avenue are untouched and are on the site's original site plans. The property is also home to a beautiful garden from which our chefs proudly source their fresh herbs and spices. Takamaka Bay, our fabulously Seychellois rum, came to life in 2001 and was inspired by the D'Offay family recipe. It is used both in La Plaine St. Andre's bar and kitchen. By day, the grounds of La Plaine provide a tranquil setting for a day away from the beach - our petanque court pays tribute to our French heritage, our garden surrounding the historic ruins is a treasure trove for the nature-lover in you and our distillery is open to be explored from Mondays to Fridays. When the sun sets, the ambience of our restaurant changes dramatically; enjoy an intimate meal in our private dining room or on our softly lit terrace or an Al Fresco dinner under the stars.

This is a restaurant in an old colonial house (creaky floors, huge shutters, etc) that is also now a rum distillery. We were recommended to the place by a friend who had been there before. It did not disappoint! Excellent service, gorgeous atmosphere and really lovely food made with local ingredients (including fruit bat)! They also had PASTIS on the menu, something that I haven't been able to find in Africa for awhile and of course, you should not leave this place without trying their rum because it's excellent!

This restaurant was recommended to us by the hotel we were staying at and it was also the closest one as we were staying on the south east side of Mahe near the airport ....so we gave it a go! The staff are very friendly and the food was very enjoyable! It was certainly very popular and filled up very quickly. They had a band playing and the ambience in the restaurant was very good. The desserts were heavenly. We shared a chocolate fondant delicious and the pancakes divine! We had the prawn curry and the fish curry small portions but very tasty.... The fish one was better value as you get more fish .......we didn't have local currency and the owner/manager arranged a taxi for us and added it to our bill and gave us cash really helpful! If you are looking for a restaurant in this part of Mahe I would definitely recommend it!

We went to this establishment twice for lunch during our stay on Mahe. Our first meal was better with the desired meals all being available. We were very satisfied with all of our selections that encouraged us to visit a second time.

Our second time there wasn't as good with the beef tournedos (which is usually small pieces of beef) but it came out as a fillet of beef. It was still good but it didn't match the menu description. The accompanying potatoes seemed a bit old (grey in color). The fish dishes were very good.

We were disappointed that one of their signature items (bat ravioli) was not available.

All of that to stay that the food and service was better than many of the other local restaurants. I highly recommend a visit to La Plaine while on Mahe and hope the experience for you is like our first visit.

We have been at La Plaine on a Friday evening with very good friends. We started the night with a beautiful cocktail on the Veranda of the restaurant. Very friendly service and delicious drinks! Then we ordered our food and have been guided to our table after we finished our drinks. Here a great band was waiting with even better music. We had 3 courses and everyone was just as good as the following…
The colony style of the house makes it a very special place to have dinner and enjoy a beautiful night.

Looking forward to come back soon!
