Copolia Lodge was a perfect place to end up a one-month trip through Africa and Asia. It might be a little far away from the beach and from restaurants and shops, but that's exactly part of its charm. After a 15-minute drive uphill, we found a warm welcome from the staff and the manager, very charming décor, comfortable rooms, good shower with excellent toiletries and, of course, a stunning view of Victoria and the sea, from both the pool and our room. Breakfast was limited to a few options, but well prepared. Wifi internet worked properly, but was a little unstable and rather weak in our room. Having a rental car is essencial to move around, since the public transportation seems to be scarce.

Due to a 2 hour delay to our flight we arrived at Copolia before 11pm to a locked gate and no instructions of how to enter the building. I got out of the car to try to find an access. I walked behind some of the parked cars towards some light after banging on the metal gate with no luck. Wilst trying to find an alternative access I slipped and fell into a mud pool. At this point the manager became aware of our arrival and came out scowling at me asking me why we had not called to tell her we were going to be late. Covered in mud and in need of assistance all she could go on about was that they expected us to call. The manager bluntly refused any help to get my muddy clothes washed saying that there was no laundry service on a Sunday.
The rest of the stay was bland and we just wanted to get out of the lodge. Dogs barking kept us up most of the night
This morning I received a no show confirmation from bookings.com which I suggest is an attempt by the lodge for us to pay twice. I am amazed that after the entrance we made, me covered in mud and limping, that the manager would forget our visit ......and TRY to CHARGE us TWICE

We have taken note of your comment which unfortunately is entirely due to your responsibility,
you book a room for one night in our hotel through an online site that gives you all the necessary information including the time of registration is between 2.00pm and 09.00pm , you arrived after midnight, involved a flight delay , you do not even have the courtesy to inform us so that we can welcome you at this late hour; we are a Guest-House, not an international hotel with a
reception 24h/24!
A menber of staff who slept kindly welcome you while you were insulting!
For your information, the laundry is not open during the night and you left the morning...
This website booking cancels the reservation (show after midnight) but our lodge not under any circumstances try to charge 2 times!!!
Hoping that this adventure will leave you a good memory of the Seychelles!
Regards. Coralie & William

A beautiful boutique hotel nestled in the mountains in sans soucis. A very homely atmosphere with a breathtaking view of the mountains on one side and the beach on the other. Good food great hospitality..... Big thank you to William and Coralie Greyson the owners of this lovely property who made us feel welcome the minute we walked in. The friendly and hospitable staff at this hotel adds value to the quality of service. This is the place to be if you are looking for a quiet getaway away from the busy town, lovely climate cold yet pleasant a beautiful view every morning to open up your windows to see the misty mountain tops and the amazing lights from down town every night......

I stayed at the Copolia Lodge for two nights and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. I arrived rather harried after nearly missing my flight from Dubai and a transmission failure on a busy road in my rental car. The owners made me feel welcome and relaxed and they offered several helpful suggestions for my activities. I had dinner at the lodge my first night as I was extremely fatigued and it was lovely. The breakfast included homemade bread, fruit, yogurt and eggs if desired. It was delightful.

Nothing on Mahe is very far away as it is a small island, but you really do need a car to efficiently get around the island and to get to the Copolia Lodge. I chose this location to give me a contrast with my stay at Beau Vallon beach. The San Souci road to the Lodge is narrow and contains a number of hairpin turns but if you are up for the journey to get there, the views are well worth the trip.

Room Tip: I chose the ocean view room and loved waking up to sunrise and view of St. Anne, Moyene and Praslin...

Copolia Lodge is excellent if you want a few days of relaxation before heading back home and/or if you have a car. It's beautifully located on the steep hills of Mahe, about 20 minutes by car from Victoria and 30 minutes from the airport. The hotell building itself is stunning with large windows and high ceeling. There are not that many rooms so it's quiet and intimate. The rooms are simple and minimalistic but clean.

The pool area is quite small but also clean and stylish. They serve a 3 course dinner with a set menue for 480 SCR/person excl. drinks. You can see that they put effort into refining creole cooking but it is a hit and miss, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Breakfast is small but fresh and beautifully served. The start of the Copolia hiking trail is literally just outside the hotel.

I would however not chose this hotel if I didn't have a car and wanted to explore the island. There's nothing, except the trail, within walking distance, no restaurants and no beaches. You can use the public bus but it stops running at night and can be quite a time consuming way to travel.

We are frequent travellers, visiting so many places all over the world, so I`d try to be fair.
Stayed in November 2013 mountain view room.
PROS:
- the place is really awsome - nice views, surrounding nature - just feeling of Seychelles.
- close to marverllose Copolia Trail - you just have to cross the road - you should certainly go there!
- Everything you need is in your room, nice furniture
- drinking water from the tap
- WI-FI connection in lobby is fast
- tasty and healthy food with good value for money
- very polite an helpful women working where.
if you dont mind the vicinity of beach - nice atmospheric place to stay for 2-3 nights.

LIMITATIONs
- not really close to nice beaches.
- dangerous road or you`ll have to take taxi for enormous money. We had to return to hotel till sunset, not to drive at night.
- nothing at all in nearest surroundings - no shops, no restaurants.
- In the morning you`ll be waken up with dogs barking, the sounds from the busy road - and as in our case with the roar of grass-cutter.
- dirty towels - they smelled!
We always felt we were disturbing the staff - not good parking place taken, not ordered food in time and so on.
We decided to move to the beach (just to see the sunset on the beach on our last day) and not to stay the third prepaid night, and not even claimed our money back, but the attitude towards us changed greatly an once! They switched-off the WI-FI in lobby (it worked without question 3 days before!) and then I asked - what happened? Coralie just answered - "I dont know..." and went out.
We were really lucky to move to the beach this day - we found a really nice pleasant place.

Dear Katerina,
Thank you for your comment but I want to understand ... you say that the place is nice , well- equipped rooms , the water is unlimited , free wifi , the staff is polite and the food at a good value, on arrival we reopened the kitchen especially for you at 10.00pm , it helped you troubleshoot your car at night and you say " A place where you are not welcome " ???
In addition, you made believe you are a travel agency to get a better price ...
You want to leave early because internet was not working due to a problem with the network operator , it was restored an hour later ...
For your information, we are 15 minutes from the beach of Beau Vallon and Port Launay .
Our taxi bill between 15 and 20 euros for the city and the nearest beaches... but we always advise our guests to rent a car (40 euros / day)
We are delighted for you that you find another charming place... Best regards.Coralie & William
