Must do in Praslin! Hire a boat and head there to see the giant turtles and barbecue on the wonderful beach!

“Great trip with Corsair to Curiuse”
Reviewed 19 December 2013

We did a trip to Curiuse island and snorkeling at St Pierre. We were very pleased with the trip and service we received from Corsairs boat charter. It was only me and my husband. They droped us off at the side of the island where the turtles were. We got to walk around and talk to the staff and look at the turtles. There was a 10 day old baby turtle. Then we had a hike to the other side of the island through the mangrove forest. It was warm but well worth it. We saw lots of funny crabs of different types. The hike ended at the doctor’s house and a lovely beach. There was a barbeque set up for us and cold drinks. It tasted delicious (three different kinds of fresh fish, chicken, rice and different sallads, just for two persons!!!). It was great with a dip in the turquoise waters after the long hike. I recommend starting the trip at the turtles and ending at the doctor’s house since the beach there is beautiful and it is nice to take a swim after the hike and the environment is nicer there than at the turtle side.

Booked a day trip to curieuse island with a local tour operator king creole on the beach in Côte d'Or . The trip cost 60 eu pp plus 200 rps pp for tax. The trip involved a boat taxi to the island, a BBQ and if we had wished snorkelling in st Pierre . We were collected from our hotel late as the driver had slept in. We arrived at the beach where we met 8 other people. The boat departed 10am and arrived 1015 on the island. Very brief intro by a local. We looked at the doctors house which had a few posters up about leprosy and the history of the island. We then walked to the baie where the turtles were. This took 40 minutes. It was manageable in flip flops but a lot of it is uphill and through heavily rooted ground. It was a wet day and we found the trail slippy.I wouldn't recommend for anyone who may be elderly or who has difficulty with mobility. The turtles are lovely and surprisingly friendly. They are wandering around the beach and BBQ area and approach visitors for food. I was very surprised to see that nobody objected to tourists sitting on the turtles for photos. The staff there didn't seem even notice. After you have seen the turtles which takes five minutes there is very little else to do. You can go for a swim but snorkelling isn't much good here. Other than that it's a long 2 hour wait for the BBQ which is little more than a piece of fish and chicken served with salad. After this another wait of an hour before going back on the boat to the next destination. With all the hanging around the place can be quite boring. The only thing worth seeing is the turtles and this is done in a very short amount of time. I would also suggest maybe coming for an hour and bringing your own picnic.

Stopped off during a full day catamaran trip visiting various islands. How wonderful to see these giant land tortoises roaming on the beach and around the island. Also walked through mangrove swamp forest area to Anse Josee. Great island!

There are several paths that can be explored, you can see a mangrove swamp with animals. And the beach are awesome. The turtles are fun.
