Stayed overnight to attend an engagement party nearby...picked the hotel because we stayed there previously. They were very accomodating and upgraded us to a Mansion Room, which was a duplex and very roomy and comfortable. It was also nice to be able to go out a door to the parking lot. We will definitely stay there again when we are in the neighborhood.

A large property (requires a great deal of walking but all indoors), unique setting, even the meeting rooms are well appointed. Expensive drinks and food! The staff is very accommodating you must ask for a refrigerator but they did deliver it during the day.Extremely convenient to the airport & highways but very hard to turn into the parking lot during traffic. You can easily miss it and then it is a LONG way to turn around and NO turn lane when coming from the interstate....some of the back rooms back up to the highway and make them a bit noisy. Only had one meal dinner in the basic restaurant and was not impressed.(does NOT include breakfast with the price of the room) The other meals were banquet style and they were pretty much your basic banquet meals....

Room Tip: inside rooms face inner court yard set up and can be entered from two sides...outside rooms allow yo...

We spent one night at the Desmond during a driving trip from Ontario to Maine. We thought the price was too high for the services provided. There was no breakfast included. No bar frig in the room. Missed bottles of water too. The bed was comfortable. Hallways smelled musty. We were disappointed - expected more for the price which was close to $200 for the night for a room with a king-sized bed.

Stayed a week in St. Thomas and left the car in the Desmond parking lot; great! As we live an hour drive from the airport, this arrangement took the strain out of an early departure and a very late return.

I was at the Desmond last week for the ACUU conference. The room was cozy and clean. It is a pretty massive hotel so I Def suggest you look at the map for a while just to make sure you know where you are going. The service was alright. The front desk person gave my husband a hard time about getting our keys reset. But she did do it after some conversation. The breakfast wasn't great. They had flies in the oj and there wasn't a big selection either. Lunch was ok. I ended up going to a local spot for dinner. They do have some activities in the hotel. Playing pool was neat. I don't understand why they make you pay for it though. All in all the hotel in general was nice and it's definitely different than any other hotel I have ever stayed in.

I attended a conference in May 2014 at the Desmond. I had been there a long time ago and was actually excited that NYSED changed the location to this hotel.
I was very disappointed. The rooms were nice and clean, and the beds were comfortable. The place is a maze though, so getting around can be tricky. The upstairs conference rooms were more comfortable than those downstairs. The food is where my disappointment came from. The NTI sessions usually have amazing food, but this wasn't even average. Breakfast was yogurt cups, untoasted bagels, melon and a pastry. No apples, berries or bananas. No toaster. No protein other than the yogurt. There was orange juice but the pitchers were sitting in ice water so when you picked one up you dripped the water into the other pitchers...gross. Lunch was soup, greens, hamburgers and hot dogs. The soup was good. I tried to eat a burger without the bun but the texture was awful...clearly a fatty frozen patty. Dessert was good. Dinner was a mushy rice with chicken in it. We went to Macaroni Grill on our own dime because it looked awful. There was so much complaining about food that NYSED apologized on the final day. I'm guessing it won't be at the Desmond in August.

Room Tip: Nice rooms, bad conference food. I only ate at the conference there.
