Toyoko Inn Busan Seomyeon
Ranked #19 of 156 Hotels in Busan
Reviewed 28 May 2014

I needed a hotel closer to the Busan airport to make my early morning flight less of an ordeal. Our customer made a reservation for me at the Tokyo Inn-Seomyeon. Almost any type of restaurant is within walking distance and the underground shops are really nice to browse in. The rooms are Euro/Asia style: smaller, conveniently laid out and modern. Unfortunately my flight was too early for me to take advantage of the breakfast buffet. But, it looked and smelled great as I was checking out of the hotel I sneaked a peak.

Room Tip: Take advantage of this hotels location and enjoy the shops and restaurants nearby.

The advice by the hotel is to use Exit 8 at Seomyeon Metro station on Line 2 but bear in mind there are 68 steps on this Exit. Exit 10 has an escalator and when you exit, just walk straight and you will meet Starbucks and Exit 8 in less than a minute. Continue walking straight and you will pass a second Starbucks and a convenience store Ministop. The Inn is less than a minute from here straight on.

There is a lift at Exit 12 and when the door open, make a U turn and continue walking straight on. You will pass Exit 10 in a minute and then follow the instruction as above.

Overall the hotel is a in a good location as Seomyeon is at the intersection of both Metro Lines. The complimentary breakfast is good enough for 2 or 3 days but can get stale as there is not much changes. Yes, I will return to stay in this hotel mainly of the excellent reservatioin system on their website.

Room Tip: Take a room facing the back.

We stayed for 4nights and its location is very convenient. Subway, food stall or shopping mall is just nearby. Room is not big but its very clean.Breakfast in the hotel is good but has to be early or you may need to wait for your seat.

(a) location - around 8-10 minutes walking distance from the metro exit... straight the way from exit 8... easy to locate...
(b) room - standard layout and deco as other toyoko inns, no surprise... but the soundproofing is bad, as we can hear the noise from the corridor easily [but no traffic noise from the street]... the mattress is a bit too soft...
(c) breakfast - included in the room rate... simple but ok taste... it's good for a couple of days...
(d) lift - a bit too small, esp during the morning busy hours... but with good security as you need the room key to operate the lift during late night...
(e) front desk - can speak fluent english... but unlike those in Japan, they don't carry smile on their face...

We stayed at this hotel for two nights (DEC 6 & 7, 2013) for our visit to Busan. Firstly, the hotel is in an excellent location and is only about a ten minute walk from the central Seomyeon Station. That is the best thing about this hotel. The room was on the small side, but still very clean, and well appointed with various gadgets typical of a Japanese managed hotel. The breakfast buffet was included in the room rate and it included both eggs and toast and fruit .. as well as Korean staples such as kimchi and rice. So this was a nice way to start the day. On the negative side, one of the front desk staff was sullen, unhelpful, and refused to book us a taxi the night before our early morning departure. This caused us unnecessary stress as we had to hail a taxi on the street on our own at 0500 am for our departure to the airport. In general, the hotel was fine, but the bad apple on the front desk really needs to be replaced to make this a better stay for customers.

I stayed here with my mom, who's used to staying in mid-range motels in the US (i.e. Comfort Inn, Quality Inn, La Quinta, etc.) and she loved it. The room was really nice and had an awesome view of Seomyeon! The staff all speak excellent English, and there are computers in the lobby for customers to use. The location is good; only a few blocks from the subway, and centrally-located. Everything in Busan is spread out, so it's a good idea to stay in Seomyeon if you're planning on doing things all over the city. The check-in time is a little late and the check-out time is a little early. The breakfast is a mixture of Korean breakfast (rice, soup, kimchi, and seaweed) and "Western" breakfast (eggs, white bread, and coffee). If you are an expat living in Korea and your parents are visiting, this is a great place for them to stay.

Room Tip: If you get a room on an upper floor, the view is really nice, but waiting for an elevator can be a p...
