If you like to hike, this is a graet place to start or end one. It has lovely trails, teh temple complex is very large. Not very educational, but a nice quiet place to visit.

Visited in the early evening, the hilltop location is remote and peaceful. Robed monks are actively praying, chanting, playing some percussive instruments. There are several temples, each with ornate and beautiful Buddha statues, and the interiors are clean and well-maintained, more so than temples that persist mostly as tourist destinations. Visiting Beomeosa was a privilege.

It took me at least 90 minutes to get to the temple on three different metro lines and a bus, and I was pretty disappointed with what I saw. Much of the temple at the moment is fenced off for construction or renovation works, so that was a particularly disappointing surprise. Furthermore, there were cars parked every where - directly around the seven-storey stone pagoda and along the pathways, ruining the solitude and aura of the place. The only upside was a special exhibition on lanterns.

Great location with the temple buildings spread up the hillside among the trees. Very popular with locals, especially at weekends. 10 minutes by bus No 90 from Beomeosa station, Exit 5, and walk up the side street to the bus terminus.
