Janus Paradise Rest is owned and run by Janus himself. He is very helpful, kind and friendly and so are all his staff. Janus speaks excellent English. His brother who helps out at the resthouse also doubles up as tuk-tuk driver which is very helpful. Although the cook was on holiday during our stay, Janus and his team produced excellent curries for us and also Western dishes such as delicious pasta for the children. Paradise Rest is set right on the beach and it also benefits from a lovely little pool. Everything is kept spotlessly clean. If you're looking for a luxury option this is not the place for you, but if you want a clean and friendly place to stay on Induruwa beach I don't think you can get better value than this. From Janus Paradise Rest you can easily visit the turtle hatcheries on the coast and take a boat tour on the Bentota Gange to see water monitors and crocodiles. Janus' brother will happily drive you to any of those places and also take you to a nice lunch spot on the way (try Susantha's for great freshly made pizza). If you're after peace and quiet, note that all the hotels on this stretch of beach (including the expensive ones!) are very close to the road and the train line so it can get pretty noisy. Janus was planning to build some quieter family rooms closer to the beach at the time of our visit.
