My wife and I ( we have dined their 3 times before) invited 3 friends to join us, the setting is very nice and the bar service was attentive, I ordered 2 Smirnoff vodkas and tonics and 3 gins, the vodka was not Smirnoff! I complained but they would not change the drinks , so I had a beer instead. The food was OK except for my wife's pork curry which was without any spice, the portion sizes were rather disappointing considering the prices. As we were the only people in the restaurant, I feel that they are over pricing themselves. To finish the evening off we had coffee and sat just outside of the restaurant, however the staff started switching off all the lights around us, then brought our bill without asking us if we required anything else to drink, so we took the hint, paid our bill and left never to return again.

Great food, reasonable prices and a good place to go for lunch/ dinner if you are not staying there. The gift ship (Paradise Road) is also fantastic without a lot of the tat that you see in the markets and for reasonable prices.

When travelling from Galle and other places in the south of Sri Lanka up to Colombo, I can't think of any better place to eat than at the Village Café in Bentota.
We have done this several times and we have never been disappointed. The citchen is ambitious and there is a surprisingling wide variety of differnt cuisins to choose from. Our definite favorite is the Linguini with ceab and shrimps. Big portions, but heavenly goood. The Fish and Chips was a bit of a disappointment. Here the Village Café has something to learn from big brother in Colombo, nthe Gallery Café whose Fish and Chips is very good.
The wine selection is not overwhelming, but adequate. We had a good Chardonnay from Australia which did accompany the seafood very well.
Definately a place to stop.

A romantic courtyard setting with a mouth watering menu. Try the prawn curry or if you are looking for a snack then they make their own pizzas! A must if you are in Bentota.

Amazing food, and very good service. You have to be clear about when you want your items though, as it can take time. Order the Grilled Fish 24 hours before hand to allow the Chef to purchase it fresh that day
