“one of the nieces place in Sri Lanka”
Reviewed 19 August 2014

Since my last time that place changed a lot. Now its much better. Lots of shops, galleries, restaurants there. Its really worth to stay there for two overnights and enjoying the local ambience there.

“Only & only well preserved colonial Dutch forts ( rampart)in the world”
Reviewed 16 August 2014 via mobile

A must see if you visit Sri Lanka it is well preserved fort and a habitat inside with own character. There are number of well preserved Dutch era houses and bungalows.( some converted to private speciality hotels). In side. To explore the entire rampart you need whole day.it houses old kachcheri ( land registry) now converted into an up market shopping centre. Before that's it had hosted luncheon to prince Charles during his visit to Galle on route common wealth summit at Colombo. Beside the gall for you can see the old harbour and inside the fort lots of attraction of historical value. If you are a cricket fan you would have had a glimpses of this historical land mark during telecasts of matches played in Galle international stadium. So don't stay back in your living room watch matches . visit Galle to see the splendour.

“Quaint and interesting”

Quiet, chic and stylish - shops, restaurants and hotels/guesthouses are all this, and more. The ramparts and surroundings are fascinating - cool breezes!

“Great mix, quaint and on the up..”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

Unlike Galle new town, the old town has revived itself as an 'upmarket' location with Shops, restaurants and hotels priced to match! The 3 main road Lighthouse, Rampart and Church all have great must-see buildings and vistas. The fort walls keep back the ferocious ocean waves which are stunning too.Just be wary of locals selling 'old coins' - most are copies.... Great day out!
