From the moment we were greeted personally by Pietro (the manager) until our departure we felt like honored guests. Our corner room was spectacular. The desk area with high, high ceiling and massive windows with shutters looked older but had plenty of electrical outlets for charging cameras etc. The desk could have had better light though.
The bath area was well-appointed with two sinks and separate shower and tub. The bed was very comfortable.
Breakfast was really good. We had egg hoppers and fish cakes - wow!
My favorite part was the photo album in the library showing the hotel before and during their massive reconstruction.
In the morning we went for a walk before breakfast. The staff took the opportunity to take my shoes for a cleaning. What a delightful surprise!
At departure Pietro gave me some of the hotel body lotion that I had praised along with leather luggage tags.
We wish we could have stayed longer in the Galle fort and especially at Amangalla.
