Stayed here for one night with friends. Our two rooms shared a private lounge area where had drinks and nibbles on arrival. We ate in the restaurant later, which was really good. Great location to wander round Galle. Fascinating building, and very helpful staff.

We stayed twice in this chic and stylish hotel in Galle. The hotel is an old printing works, once converted to a school and now a boutique hotel. We felt like celebrities in the Headmasters Room - a huge suite with sleeping platform, sofa beds and lounge plus huge dressing room/lobby/bathroom, and our second stay in the Prefects Room by the pool was equally comfortable, luxurious and well- staffed.. The food is delicious, the service immaculate, and the location within the Fort is central and quiet - a great place to stay - 5 star luxury for an affordable price.

Room Tip: All are luxurious and comfortable, but stay in the original wing - Headmasters, Art , History, Geogr...

Good morning,

It was a pleasure to host you for the second time and we hope you will come back again. Thank you for your nice feedback and for sharing your room tips.

Indeed the Prefect's and the Headmaster's rooms are very spacious and charmy as they keep the authenticity of this old 18th century building.

We look forward to welcome you again to The Fort Printers.

This is a top quality hotel. We stayed here sadly only one night. The surroundings are unique and quaint and most of all really clean. What really makes this hotel such a great place to stay is the staff. The waiter in the restaurant had excellent English. Both myself and my fiancée suffer from allergies. I am allergic to wheat and my other half is allergic to nuts. Overall in Sri Lanka they generally understood what a nut allergy was and could tell you that there were no nuts. However, the wheat allergy was a waste of time even asking! The Fort Printers hotel was excellent. The waiter went through their menu and told me exactly what I could eat, and so friendly. They even rang around to see if they could source wheat free bread for me. Both receptionists were so helpful and gave us a mini tour on arrival explaining the history of the building. Our flight on the following day was a night time flight. The lady on reception organised a room that we could shower in for the evening before our flight. So helpful would thoroughly recommend. Best food we had while in Sri Lanka also.

Room Tip: We stayed in the History Room. It had all the original features of an old building and was beautifu...

This is a charming hotel that is well appointed within the fort close to little shops, including a branch of the Barefoot handicraft shop. The decor is lovely and even the new modern rooms with clean lines and minimal decor is tastefully done. The grounds are well kept and there are enough different rooms/public spaces within the hotel that you don't feel to be inconvenient by having too many other guests around. It even has a little pool while not large is good enough for a quick dip and still charming.

Room Tip: The Headmaster's room in the original building on the first floor is charming - large walls of o...

We have just returned from Galle and were very pleased with our choice of Fort Printers. It is well situated in the fort and a short walk to the ramparts, restaurants, shops and sights. The fort is quiet in the evening and has a very nice atmosphere.

We stayed in the new wing which has simple but tasteful rooms, high ceilings and large bathrooms. We had the use of a large comfortable lounge which we appreciated greatly. One evening our air conditioner failed and the staff immediately offered us to change to another room.

Breakfast and dinner were both good. The only minor thing is that the pool is very small and more of a lap pool and just about takes two people swimming carefully, so if a bigger pool is important then Fort Printers is not for you.

Room Tip: The heritage wing has nice rooms on the first floor with wooden floors. The new wing is all on the g...

Fort Printers, a wonderful chance to stay in an 18th century mansion within the old walled fort city of Galle. We were lucky to have stayed in the Art Room, a huge, spacious room with lovely high beamed ceilings and wide wooden plank old teak floors. Lots of character.

A very comfortable and large bed, extremely efficient air conditioning to accompany a ceiling fan, and a functional bathroom and shower area, made this a dream come true. This room did not have a direct view of the outside, but rather opened up to the inside hallway. While this would not work for everyone, we found that we could still find quiet spaces, with an outside view, to relax within this old mansion. The pool, although small, offered a quiet and welcome respite from the heat of Galle

But the piece de resistance was the service and attention. From the moment we met Tiyana, she made us feel a part of the Fort Printers family. Pleasant, accommodating, informative and from the moment we walked in we felt welcome and special and knew we were not clients but rather welcome guests.

Actually, the service by all the young staff, Tiyana, Petar and Marion, was delightful. They were welcoming and engaging and focused on making our stay a most memorable one.

The restaurant was far and above the Sri Lankan experience. The food was detailed and finessed and with a taste quality far and above the average we encountered in Sri Lanka. Kudos to the chef and the staff.

A nicer boutique style hotel you will not find and we thank all the special people at The Fort Printers for all of their efforts in making our stay an excellent one. We actually were sad to leave.

Room Tip: Art Room - large and quiet and well positioned in the mansion

We enjoyed our stay here so much. The location was perfect and the room was very spacious and well equipped, the building was tastefully renovated and full of character. The manager Peter was so helpful and also allowed us a later check-out as we had a very long journey back to Australia the next day which made such a difference. The staff were excellent, very friendly and highly professional which gave the hotel such a great atmosphere. I would recommend the Fort Printers without hesitation.
