Paradise Beach Hotel
Ranked #17 of 43 Hotels in Negombo
Reviewed 3 August 2014

This is our 5th visit to Paradise Beach Hotel. We were pleasantly surprised this time as the hotel has been completely renovated. The decor in the rooms is very tastefully done, the bathrooms that were in much needed repair are now modern, with rain shower heads! The staff are excellent, cannot say enough about the staff. From management down to the housekeepers they asked if they could be of assistance to us and wanted to make sure that we were comfortable. We were the second guests to return to the hotel after it reopened after a 3 month closure. The pool area has been nicely tiled, new umbrellas provide shade.
Our stay there has always been pleasant but, this time it was even better than staying at any 5 star hotel, as we were treated like royalty!!! And we felt very welcome. Airport pickup at 1:05 am was on time - what more could we ask for at that time of the morning.
My husband and I will definitely return to this place again next year. We love it!!

Room Tip: We were in room 318. It was on the third floor. It was very quiet. The bed was comfortable and th...

My wife and I decided to take our vacation to Sri Lanka for a budget holiday. And it was one of the most memorable holidays of our life. The staff is so friendly and cater to your every need. The food is outstanding. The pool is cleaned every morning and if you plan to sunbathe make sure to get there early. The rooms are clean and sufficient for our needs. The view from the balcony was breathtaking and we never tired of it. The bathrooms where lacking in privacy as there was an open window for ventilation. But we were assured that the hotel is under renovation and the bathroom issue would be rectified.
The beach is your backyard, but beware you might get bombarded with locals trying to sell you things. Keep an open mind though you might find some things worth while.

Overall such a fantastic vacation. Loved every second of it. Defiantly going back for another visit.

Stayed here with another couple at the start and end of a Sri Lanka tour and was the weakest hotel by a mile.
Cons-dated run down rooms. Beach pretty awful.
Pros-staff lovely. Beer cold. Location good.
Recommend tuktuk tour of the fish market from outside hotel. An experience.

When you step down for breakfast in the morning haven been woken by the constant dripping of water into the air conditioning unit, dripping may I add into the electrical socket and light switch above that, you realise that you have step back to the 80's and George Michael must have sung about this place once upon a time. The place is in some serious need of updating as well as there choice of music - I don't think I could stand for one more day of listening to Bryan Adams sing at the top of his lungs that everything he does it for you...... Along with all other popular 80 and 90 rock ballades. Saying that the staff were very friendly and the dude that ran breakfast seemed like he was holding court, there is a man that has either been recently promoted or loves his job!

Also when we complained about the leaking air conditioner and the puddle of water we woke up with and the fire hazard this could possible create, we were met with a shrug of the shoulder - it was like there had heard it a thousand times before and like before they would choose to ignore it!

Me and my husband recently spent 11 nights here and we can't fault it. Where to start, first of all the staff are the most helpful and friendliest people we have ever met. They will do anything they can to make you feel at home and nothing is to much trouble. We were fortunate enough to have stayed in one of the first refurbished rooms and as we were leaving the hotel it was closing for 3 month to get all the room's updated like the one we had which was very nice. The food also was immense and everything had loads of flavour and they would make you anything they could. If you are looking for a relaxed and homely feel, then this is definitely the hotel for you. Me and my husband would recommend this hotel to anyone and I know we will be when we get home.

Supernice hotel with the most friendly staff I have ever met!!! The service is really something out of the ordinary at this hotel! Just ask for what you whant and they will try and fix it for you! Always trying to complie your requests.
We stayed for 8 days during which time we really got to know the staff and the managment. The hotel is clean and well taken care of and it will be even nicer after the renovation.
We travelled with our two daughters, 11 and 13, and they both loved this hotel with the friendly staff and great location.
For the excurtions we got help from a tuktuk-driver, empoyed by the hotel and we really got service and help even from him! He showed us nice quality shopping, took us to the zoo and showed us temples and churches. In a buddist temple he arrange for one of the munks to give us a private tour.
Our hole family can really recommend this hotel!

We visited this hotel in 2013 as base to discover Sri Lanka for 5 days on way to maldives, we were not disappointed and loved Sri Lanka so much we returned in April 2014 taking our 10 year old daughter this time. Yes the hotel is a little dated but we had no reason at all to complain (unlike another higher graded hotel on our same trip) everything else was perfect. Staff are very friendly and pool area very good, and not busy which is what we like . My daughter loved the pool! The food in the main restaurant is very much local but that's ok , we are in Sri Lanka after all. My daughter is a very fussy eater so that was a little problem to us, however the bar area did serve snacks which were a little more European , I can't remember the name of the bar attender in that bar but he was very nice and I'm sure he will remember us as we (and our Sri Lankan friend) were always the last out both years!. The beach is not the best, a lot of litter, but if like us and in Sri Lanka for the amazing culture you will not be worried by this.. We are very much looking forward to returning in 2015 when we believe there may have been some improvement to the rooms.
