“Perfect for adults and children”
Reviewed 16 January 2012 for a stay in December 2011

We were three couples with 1 child each (all three children were under 3 years old). We stayed there for a week and spent one of the best Christmas we have ever had.
The Villa is very comfortable and extremely well decorated. We had to make a few arrangements with the furniture to accomodate all three families and that was not a problem at all.
We were looked after by Nalin and his wife who cooked us fantastic breakfast, lunch and dinner every day, including our Christmas lunch. We are all very fond of the aubergine dish they made for us and that we are desperate to copy (without success so far!). They were again very keen to accomodate our needs and served the three meals at the time we wanted or to match with our excursions without a problem.
Nalin was also excellent at organising transportation for all 9 of us, whether it was in three-wheelers to go into Negombo or in mini-van to go to Colombo or Pinnawala Elephant Orphenage.
The villa is in a location that is quiet so we relaxed a lot. The facilities of the villa are amazing, and we spent a lot of time in the pool with our children. The villa is safe and every day maintenance was never a problem.
Pick up and drop off was organised for us from andto the airport as well.

All in all, I found it very easy to book the villa, we all found our stay incredibly relaxing and stress-free and my daughter, when looking at picture still says "I want to go to that house again", to which we say "we'd love to go back too."

“Sri Lankas best family arrival & departure recluse!”
Reviewed 9 July 2011 for a stay in June 2011

Negombo is not far from airport. Two travel weary adults and two large teenage sons arriving at The Laggon Villa for a few days R&R previous to the Sri Lankan adventure is just the way to start your vacation. Lagoon Villa is the ultimate luxury home, spacious, secure, beautifully appointed and excellent value, make no mistake, just do it! And book the cook, he is an absolute treat. And when you plan to leave SL make sure you book the Villa again for a couple of days, you will be well cared for and delivered to the airport any time of the day or night. We highly recommend this lovely Villa.

“Service, comfort, location...in that order”
Reviewed 19 April 2011 for a stay in April 2011

The villa is in an excellent location and is beautifully furnished. We had a wonderful time there, our only regret that we did not book it for a longer period than 3 nights.

We did not ask the chef for breakfasts or dinners since we thought we would try out various places in Negombo. On our first night at the villa we arrived late and being too tired to go out, took the chance to ask Naliu (property caretaker) if he would organize us something. The result being that we ended up asking him to prepare us dinner also the following night! Naliu is really someone special with service delivery his top priority. Its not just the excellent location of the villa and facilities that makes it stand out, I believe it is the personal touch Naliu adds that really lifts it out from the competition. Nothing asked of him was too hard or too late or too difficult.

Facilities are ample, furnishings and white goods are top notch. The spacious veranda is so relaxing with spectacular views. The pool is just too good to be true, the like I wouldn't mind to replace my pool at home with. I simply don't believe there is any better place to stay in the Negombo area.

“We had a great time!!”
Reviewed 9 January 2011 for a stay in November 2010

We spent a very relaxing 5 days at the Lagoon Villa and thoroughly enjoyed the villa, pool and gardens. The house is huge with lots of space for us and our two active girls. The house and garden are well maintained and we had everything we needed.

Manith’s cooking was a highlight for us. He cooked some great meals and his menu was flexible enough for my husband and I to enjoy Sri Lankan food, while our two young ones ate basic kids fare (fish and chips, pasta, noodles). He also stocked the fridge with anything we requested. Namil (the caretaker) took us to Negombo and the beach in his Tuk Tuk as well as taking my husband and daughter out onto the Negombo Lagoon.

I think the only negatives we found about this place are that the polished concrete floor is a little harsh on the eye and extremely slippery and there are a few other cosmetic issues with the property which could be easily fixed (e.g. broken fly screens). However, these do not deter me from highly recommending the Lagoon Villa as a great place for families to stay and a wonderful introduction to Sri Lanka.

“Splendid House - Quiet Location - Don't Try To Self-Cater”
Reviewed 8 January 2011 for a stay in December 2010

Other reviewers have done justice to this house: large, airy, cool, well-furnished and -equipped, stylish. It is a lovely place to spend a week. If you want somewhere to bask and be looked after in comfort it is perfect. Otherwise, it is off the beaten track and there are no facilities within walking distance which means that a trip to Negombo is needed for any shopping - and you will need to organise this in advance if you don't have a hire car. The cook, Manith, and the houseboy, Nalin, are always on hand and willing to help. The owner, Ravi, was keen to make our stay as agreeable as possible, and succeeded. The villa is next to the lagoon but there is no beach - swim in the pool, not the lagoon. The weather was abysmal while we were there but that didn't take the gloss off our stay. If hot, sunny weather was on the cards I would be back tomorrow.

“A luxurious hideaway”
Reviewed 18 December 2010 for a stay in November 2010

We had the unexpected pleasure of discovering The Lagoon Villa as an emergency alternative to a beachside stay when the hotel let us down last minute. The Villa is beautifully designed and furnished with impeccable taste, taking luxury to the next level.

It wouldn't be discovered by chance - tucked away in a small village about 15 minutes ride out of Negombo, but wow, what a gem of a find! The ultimate thrill was having our own personal chef who specialised in both Sri Lankan and Italian food. It doesn't get much better than that.

The caretaker, Nalin, couldn't have been more helpful. He droped us at a store one day and even came in with us to make sure we got the best price!

We loved our reading time on the balcony looking out onto the lagoon and lazy afternoons by the pool in the beautiful garden.

A truly relaxing stay and one which we wouldn't hesitate to repeat.

highly recommended.
