When travelling to Singapore with Sri Lankan Airline and choice a long hours transit (19hrs) Sri Lankan Airline provide a free hotel + food. This time me and my wife stayed at the Catamaran Beach Hotel, our room was on the first floor overlooking the pool and the beach from the front door balcony, room was very big and clean, excellent bathroom with shower and clean towels. aircon. This hotel is now under the wing of the government as the previous owner when bust.
The staff was friendly and helpful especially the barman, you can ask him for anything and he will go and get it for you (changing money, cigarettes when shop are closed etc). Few hundreds yards from the hotel there is a massage shop where you can get a full body massage (1hr) for UK £5.
Thank you to Sri Lankan Airline, we don't mine staying there for 19hrs or even more ;-)

Room Tip: ask for 1st floor overlooking the pool

It was a transit visit and we stayed here for 1 night. The room was big but old. Toilet was very dirty. The room stinks like an old house or maybe somebody smoke inside the room. The bed linens are very dirty and stinky. So many mosquitoes inside the room. I told the reception to do something about the mosquitoes, he said yes but he never did. I ask for hair dryer but nothing came. The next day I have lots of mosquito bites. Wifi is very slow and always disconnected. I will never ever stay here again.

Stayed here for one night as had a long connection with Sri Lankan airlines and they provided free accommodation here.

Check in was quick and efficient even though they where checking in five guests at the same time. Was allocated room 124 on the first floor at the end of the building closest to the sea.

Room was large with two good sized single beds, large bathroom with walk in shower, air conditioning and ceiling fan in the room. Spotlessly clean with toiletries provided.

Breakfast was included although slightly lacking in hot options.

Location good close to local eateries.

I was waiting in this hotel for 3 nights and had a pleasant experience.
The staff was very polite and caring, the room was very clean and all my requests were filled in a short time, extra towel, special food, etc...they make me feel like home.

Stayed here just for a night while transiting in Colombo. It is a 30 min drive from the airport. Looks more like a resort property with access to beach. There is also a good swimming pool. The beach and the pool are the only positive points about the hotel. The rooms are air conditioned and clean. But did not find clean towels or toiletteris. The break fast is nominal. Srilankan airlines is using this as a transit hotel and i think all the guests are transit passengers.

Can stay for a night if you get the hotel for free from the airlines. If not, definitively not worth it. I am sure there are better hotels in Colombo.

Just arrived back from this hotel. Can't understand any complaints. Our room had three double beds, and still spacious. The bathrooms and showers are hugh. They supplied toothbrushes, razors, toothpaste, plus all the other normal things. Beds and towels changed daily.

The staff could not be more friendly. Although at the moment it is mainly a transit hotel this will change over the time. It has only been open since December and is still on soft opening.

We stayed 10 nights out of 14 here and majority of the time had the pool to ourselves. We did a cultural tour for the other 4 nights and as this was 4 nights into our holiday were given the same room on the return room 111.

If you want to eat upstairs overlooking the beach just ask they could not be anymore accommodating.

The pool guy is great each day fetching us beach towels. The rooms they did towel art daily.

The breakfast was plentyful in the evenings they did buffet but you can order from the al acarte menu. Prices were very fair and similar to resturants outside.

All in all I would recommend this hotel it has service with a smile. And once everything is in place including the fish resturant it is a place to watch out for. Thank you all for a lovely stay.

Room Tip: Room 111 is the closest room upstairs overlooking pool/beach area
