“Unplaisant one night stay!”
Reviewed 21 April 2014

Even if the internal hotel yard and facility (Swimming pool + outside bar) is pleasant, many unpleasant surprises made our stay not plaisant.
First we had to change our room due to a non-working safe, then the water has been cut during my shower, then the restaurant ran out of coffee during the breakfast rush which conducted to not be able to take a 2nd coffee before leaving and worse a very noisy cooling system out side our room, made us a very bad sleeping night...

If you can avoid this hotel do not hesitate to do it!

We stayed at The George Hotel in Swaziland, the premises was very clean and the rooms. The bar area was pleasant and the reception was most helpful. The linen and towels needs to be replaced but the price was VERY reasonable for what we got. The buffet breakfast was a huge variety of foods. If I have to go back their again I will definitely stay at The George Hotel.

Room Tip: Not to sleep near reception as their is alot of noise when people check in and out and even going ba...

Elsewhere I would probably rate this a 3 but given the options in that price range (so excluding luxury hotels for safari tourists) I think it's a pretty good option.

There is a nice outdoor pool, bar and courtyard space, where the wifi works so it's a nice space to do some work or skyping in the evening. The hotel has a couple of restaurants/menus as well giving you an option of eating inside/outside/formal/casual; food isn't amazing but is decent (I'd recommend the steak and grilled chick salad.)

The hotel is overall pretty comfortable, although they need some improvement to the bathrooms and to their air con system given the climate; finally they need to reduce the noise levels in rooms. I haven't used the spa but it looks lovely.

Room Tip: I've stayed in a few rooms, one was lovely facing onto the courtyard - would request that, anoth...

A really good hotel close to the centre of town. The rooms are a reasonable size and with the exception of the bathroom show all the signs of investment and maintenance. There was no noise problem from outside or inside the hotel. There is a hotel bar near the pool and close to some rooms including our own. I suspect that the noise problem reported elsewhere was associated with this feature but was not a problem on this occasion. The staff were extremely helpful and the food was good. A small mistake was rectified with a free bottle of wine.

I was very impressed with the George Hotel in Manzini. On the first night I stayed in the far block of the hotel, and although the room was of a good standard, as has been mentioned in other reviews, it was noisy. We were staying for a week, and so requested that I moved to the main hotel block. The staff were very accommodating and helpful, and the new room was outstanding; very large, well equipped, and quiet.
The hotel is of a very good standard, and the staff are both friendly and efficient, and I found the rooms to be of a good standard and comfortable. Although free wi-fi was available, it was so slow it was hit and miss at to whether you could send an email, and VOIP services such as Skype were impossible to use, but I would definitely stay at the George Hotel again.

Room Tip: Request a room that is along the same side as the hotel reception

Just stayed here for a night. The hotel has a number of rooms on two levels set round a lawned area with bar and pool. The bedroom was a decent size, clean, tidy and comfortable, the bathroom on the other hand could do with some work as it was generally tatty and the shower ran out of water just before I finished! Restaurant was standard buffet, OK but unexciting. It's 3*, 'nuff said.

Stayed at this hotel for two nights. It is reasonably clean but the location right next to a rowdy bar is the problem. Punters are tumbling out of that bar/ nightclub at all hours utterly drunk. Didn't manage to get any sleep on both nights due to the noise.

It doesn't help that management don't care about other hotel guests also being as noisy as it gets on account of the hotel bar being located opposite of the main reception with the sound travelling down the passage right to the rooms. Some doors would help.

Imagine my surprise when discovering on my return from a day's worth of business engagements that they simply forgot to make up my room. Making your own bed when you are dead tired is exactly what you expect in a hotel.

On the plus side: the breakfast is ok. Given the price levels of R665 per night, I'd rather stay at a youth hostel or backpackers next time. You get the same standard for half the price.
