This hotel is definitely not up to the standards of Le Meridian hotels. The hotel itself looks OK. Location is far outside the city, so you have to use a car/taxi to get around.
I'll start with the good - probably best to! I was given a suite due to my Starwood membership level and it was fairly good, with a lounge, a dining area and a good size bedroom. And it was clean. Right, that's the good bit over with.
The staff at reception were slow and unhelpful. They took my passport (as is customary in this part of the world) but seemed very reluctant to hand it back! Check out was also a slow and painful process - allow plenty of time.
Assuming you would stay here on business (can't think of why else you would go to Lattakia), it wasn't clear whether they didn't have internet access, or it just wasn't working. So don't bank on being able to see your emails here.
The hotel doesn't have a gym. I thought that was one of the conditions of a hotel getting a 5* rating, but obviously not in Syria!
The bar was deserted and very pitiful. Just don't bother even looking at it. The restaurant is also very bad. One of the worst hotel breakfasts I have encountered, and I've eaten in Iran and Iraq! The pastries were very dry and just odd. The sausages were black, not from being burnt, just black! Meat isn't meant to be black. I was staying with a Jordanian, and we were both disappointed at the quality of the breakfast, so it doesn't suit western or arabic tastes!
Best thing about my stay at this hotel is that I was only there one night - that was quite enough. Not sure though if there is anywhere better to stay in Lattakia!

From the outside, it is very obvious that the hotel is old - the staff has mentioned that it is 30 years old! The escalators are ancient, the pools and gardens are falling apart, the furnitures in the public areas are shabby. The entire hotel is definitely way past its shelf life at the current situation.

The room we had was nice though not fully updated. The tap on the wash basin was of the 90s era. There is no complimentary coffee/tea making facility and at the rate they are charging, it is definitely pricey. There is no complimentary WiFi in the rooms!

The breakfast spread was not worthy of its 5-Star rating. We are served by some of the most ancient waiters you can find in Syria and it makes you wonder if ageing is an attraction!

At US$97 per night (inclusive breakfast), it is pricey for this dilapidated property. Stay only if there is no other property around.

We passed by Le Meridien and enquired the rates and was told it was USD 110 for 2 adults and 1 child. This for us is a bargain since we have been paying over USD 170 for a decent hotel in Syria.

The hotel room is old but clean. We ordered pizza for room service and the food turned out good. The breakfast was no major affair but sufficient to keep us going for half day. Service was attentive.

Yes, they are in need of refurbishment just to keep up to par with the brand. This is our last hotel in Syria (the fourth one) and after the previous experiences, we knew not to hope for good internet connection. The whole country is in serious nedd of internet upgrade!

+
location at the seaside-though quite far from the city center
-
outdated hotel
very expensive internet, poor wi-fi signal
inflexible staff

Would stay here again only for a good price deal; i have had one now (could be better as compared to facilities and services; was better than other hotels) as it is off season.

Not a 5 stars, not a LeMeridien standard.

What a horrible place for vacationing, the beach full of trash, think of everything dirty stuff in that water and nobody cares, the noise from outside till 3-4 am was unbelievable especially with kids where the had stay up most of the night, the breakfast did not look well organised with someone sitting in the front charging for extra little kids/ 5 year old 7 us dollars.
And you wonder where they got the five stars!!!!!

this Meridien has just the price that fits the usual Meridian standard. The hotel must have been build in the sixties and since then nothing has been changed, I am not even sure that they have cleaned since ... (the elevators are really filthy!). The hotel beach looked like a public beach with lots of traches everywhere, water full of garbages!

The hotel seems to be a good location for holiday makers. Beach, pool, outdoor bar are nice. But for business trip it is not so recommendable.

Hotel was fully booked during my stay mostly by people on holiday. The evenings and nights were loud due to live entertainment at the pool bar.

No working business centre and no internet available during my stay.

The condition of the rooms are not the best, Renovation and modernisation is needed. Nothing changed for years.

Cleaness of the rooms was acceptable.
Breakfeast buffet was ok, but not remarkable.
Friendly service, typical arabic.
