This is our 2nd time staying in Hotel Bayview. Guess the only reason of us returning to Hualien again is because of the Hotel Bayview & the ever charming oceanfront. We were there from 10 to 13 April 2012.

Juan who runs the hotel has very kindly upgraded our room from deluxe to deluxe with balcony so that we can spend a lazy afternoon watching the fishermen in action. The service and room quality are still highly raved by us. The king size bed spoilt us badly till we can't get used to the queen size bed in Taipei hotel. Even the bathroom has a good mountain view.

Speaking of service, I briefly mentioned to the receptionist lady that we've booked a 3-hr train ride back to Taipei and it's going to be a longer journey, she immediately did a check on her PC for available tickets via the Taroko Express which is 2-hr train ride. Ta-dah! We are lucky that Taroko Express tickets are still available & she did a booking for us to swap our tickets the next day.

Every time i posted the room photos on Facebook, friends will pour in & asked about it. 'SO pretty!', the girls commented and even my newbie daddy friend also want to know more about the room so that he can bring his wifey & BB girl along.

Even sitting around the beautifully painted cafe is also an enjoyment. The 24-hr cafe served free flow coffee, tea and cookies & provides internet service too. Their rooms are now well-equipped with WIFI services so you may surf in your room by the day bed.

I'll definitely be back there for a holiday again.

We stayed at Bayview for one night in April 2012 - decided to stay there after reading gushing reviews of the hotel and I have to say that I wasn't disappointed. The hotel provided free bicycles in good condition and a self-service cafe with coffee/tea/cookies. I had accidentally double booked, but the receptionist managed it very well. It was extremely windy the day we reached, so the bicycles weren't available for rental, much to our disappointment, but service was resumed the following day so it was all good. The room was clean with a very nice mediterranean touch and the shower hot! Breakfast was a decent affair with both western and chinese choices. Location of the hotel is good, situated just a minute away from the ocean and the museum. Great little establishment!

We stayed here for three nights on our Christmas/New Year's trip to Taiwan. Of the three hotels we stayed in (the other two were in Taipei), this was my favourite! We were collected from the train station and brought to the hotel - the driver kindly diverted to show us where the local eating places were!

The Bayview hotel is managed by Juan whose family are the owners. Juan speaks perfect English and is a mine of information on places to visit etc. We had a room with a balcony overlooking the sea. Even though it was the end of December, the weather was warm enough to leave a window open at night - the sound of the waves is magical to fall asleep to! The room was spotlessly clean, as was the large bathroom. With the sea just outside our window, we were regularly drawn to the balcony, not to just look at and listen to the relaxing sea, but to watch the fishermen, the coastguard guys in their little lighthouse, and people strolling or cycling along the pathway beside the beach.

Breakfast was buffet style with juices, bread, eggs, and an array of Asian style meat, fish and veg dishes to go with noodles or rice congee. Tea and coffee were brought to our table by staff.

We went to Hualien in order to see the famed Taroke Gorge (a wonderful experience!) and selected the Bayview because of the recommendations it received from fellow TripAdvisors. We enjoyed the hotel as much as the trip to the Gorge and wished we had booked for longer, but we had to head back to Taipei to meet up with friends. Even though the Bayview is situated a few miles outside of Hualien town, it is still the best place to stay - a short taxi trip organised by the hotel brings you into town anyway. The hotel provides bicycles free of charge to their guests, and using the cycling paths as suggested by Juan is a great way to spend a morning or afternoon.

If you ever need to de-stress, consider a few days at the Bayview - it's in a wonderful location by the sea and is a really relaxing experience.

Room Tip: Make sure to book a sea-view room.

Stayed here for 3 nights in December 2011 in a seaview room with a balcony. Upon arrival at the Hualien train station, we were met by our driver, who turns out to related to the family who owns the hotel. Check-in was very prompt, and the young chap who runs the place speaks very good English, having spent plenty of time in Canada, and is very knowledgeable. Everyone was very friendly and helpful.

There is a family mart just next to the hotel, and 2 dining options nearby. Alternatively, a short taxi ride will get you into town.

The hotel also helps to organize trips, for example, to the famous Taroko Gorge. Note, however, that not all guides speak good English.

The choice for buffet breakfast was also plentiful. You can get bicycles from the hotel (free of charge), and there is a cycling track along the coast. For the more adventurous, it is worth the energy to cycle beyond the easy path - you will get to a cliff, where you can see people surfing.

While in Hualien city, don't forge to try famous bao from Zhou Ji.

Overall, a very enjoyable and relaxing stay, and will certainly be back! I would recommend staying by the bay, than in the city.

Room Tip: Its highly recommended to stay in a room with the sea view and balcony.

We concur with other reviews in recommending the Hotel Bayview for a trip to Hua-lien. It makes a perfect jump-off for a trip to Taroko Gorge, and although requires a cab ride to the city itself, there is good food to be had in the cafe around the corner. The room was spotless and well-appointed, and the views of the blue waters excellent. But the staff is the key selling point - they picked us up at the train station, arranged for our guide to Taroko, purchased train tickets for us, etc. (At least one English-speaking staff available, too.) The breakfast buffet was excellent, with a mix of Western but mostly Taiwanese dishes, plus an internet cafe with coffee, teas, and snacks open 24/7. Although the surf is too rough here for swimming, the beachcombing is fun, with a great assortment of rocks. The free bikes allow for exploration of 10+ km of coastal trails, including a lovely botanical garden to the north.

Room Tip: Upper floor rooms allow for betterocean views.

This hotel gives value for your money. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the ocean view is worth paying for, the view is indeed fantastic. The service you get is great; free bikes, 24h/24h free coffee, tea and cookies but the most important is that the staff is incredible friendly and helpful. We realy enjoyed our stay.
