A combination of resort, shopping mall and kids paradise. The hotel itself is good and service team is willing to help customer.

Easy access from northern taiwan with highspeed railway. (two hour train ride from Taipei)
We arrived around 9AM did the paper work for check-in and dropped off our luggages with the concierge before going into the theme park. Most of the attractions were in-doors so the summer heat was not too much a problem. My kids are 5 and 8 years-old and there were plenty of rides to keep them interested for one entire day. Not a very big place so one full-day is quite enough. We went back to the hotel around 5pm to get our key. Our deluxe family room with two king sized bed was very big and clean.
We went to the outlet accross the hotel for dinner. There is a food court and some restaurants to choose from. Many name brands in this outlet but i didn't get time to check them out.
The swimming pool was very nice (warm which is good for the kids) with a indoors water SPA area. Very clean and nicely kept. There is also a kids club and recreational area (table tennis. Kareoke, arcade, etc)
Breakfast next morning was kind of hectic. Four restaurants to choose from which all served the same buffet. We were directed to the 8th floor banquet hall which was not very nice. Tables were set by rows and linked together like a cafeteria although the food were satisfying.
Overall, staff were nice, room clean and big, food acceptable. I would recommend this hotel for a family short weekend trip.

My wife and I decided to go to Kaohsiung for a post New Year getaway. We saw the promotion by the IHG (Holiday Inn/Inter Continental) Group and jumped at that. By the time we arrived the property, the hotel name has changed and it was no longer managed by the IHG group. Which did not bother me much. It was the first time for us to visit Kaohsiung and probably not the best choice of hotel as it is located somewhere in the mountains. It took a 20-min shuttle bus connection from the closest subway station so stay downtown if you are a first-timer to Kaohsiung. The hotel itself has nothing to complain about: It is part of a huge property development which contain a giant shopping outlet (Asia largest)?, a theme park, and two hotels. It is like a castle out of nowhere. The hotel lobby was nice, but a bit dark (insufficient lighting), room was spacious with a little balcony. My wife and I had spent much time walking around the whole development to our amazement. What actually amazed us was that for a development of such scale received so little attention and publicity outside Kaosiung or Taiwan. The days that we stay I can only described the place as deserted. It gave me a feel of a pretty ghost town. Nothing against the hotel, everyone was courteous and friendly. Room rate was reasonable if not cheap. I do not understand why it had such a low occupancy when we were there. I noticed the two housekeepers were actually waiting outside of our rooms for some time, for my wife and I to get out of the room in order to do their cleaning works. I feel bad for them. (But I must say the sound proof of the room was bad in order for me to pick this up).

Room Tip: Ask for the block which is closest to the main building to avoid a long walk.

We decided to stay at this hotel for two nights dec 2013 for a family holiday after a very pleasant overnight stay in Dec2011. But it was a very disappointed this time.. As you first walked into the room, its a mouldy smell which we soon told the reception, and they then sprayed some sort of air freshener. The showroom corner full of soap or water stain. The door frame of shower room was mouldy. The room carpet was old and stain every where. Later that night, the toilet is leaking... The worst of all is the unbearable noise coming from next rooms ( both side) due to the poor hotel room wall structure ... Ppl next door was not evan talking loud or laughing . All you can hear is talking noise ... Terrible experience we stayed and will never go back to this hotel !!!

Dear Cool5899:

Thank you for coming back to E-Da World again and taking valuable time to leave us a comment. We would like to take this opportunity to apologize for the inconveniences experienced during your stay. We have brought up the cleanliness issues to the head of Housekeeping and demand immediate rectifications from room inspection procedures before releasing for guests check in. With regards to the noise level, the hotel is in the process of planning a sound-insulation project which, unfortunately is a long-term project but is treated the top priority nevertheless. Meanwhile, we appreciate your feedback as this is our best resource to continuously improve the standard of our guest services.

Thank you again for the comments. While we understand that your recent stay was not 100% satisfactory, we hope that you would give us another chance to show you our improvements.

We recently stayed at this hotel while visiting E-Da theme park. The hotel has a lot of amenities that we unfortunately did not have time to enjoy. The room decor is fairly modern and had a nice modern bathroom as well. The bathroom was open to the bedroom only separated by a curtain. It did not have a fan which I thought was weird.
We had the complementary buffet that came with the room which was provided at one of the many on-site restaurants, when we stayed the hotel was at capacity so all the restaurants were open with the same buffet breakfast. Nothing spectacular but lots of both western and Chinese choices for breakfast.
I wish we had more time to enjoy the onsite amenities, but we spent most of the day at E-Da theme park.

Dear airmike2:

Thank you for staying at E-DA ROYAL HOTEL and taking valuable time to leave us a review. We are pleased that you find the overall experience enjoyable and relaxing. It is indeed a pity that you did not have time to visit our recreational facilities due to a seemingly tight travel schedule. May we suggest, in the near future, that a 3-day revisit to E-Da World should your journey bring you back to Kaohsiung again?

Thank you again for your positive comments and we look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.

The king bed mountain view deluxe room offer cozy bed and sofa, large bathroom with panoramic of neighboring hills and fields while taking a bath. No welcome fruit for my stay, my room was in building 3 which quite far away from recreation section and have to walk through lobby, not quite convenient. Service was standard at check in and also recreation reception.

The hotel offer some routes shuttle service with charge. There are some convenient stores and restaurants in mall opposite of the hotel.

Unfortunately, this hotel have not be IHG family anymore, so any benefits and stay credits cannot be honored. While considering I know this hotel through international hotel chain, it is hard to me to back to the hotel since the location is only good for E-DA world park and outlet mall only.

Room Tip: This is a quite big hotel with many building so ask hotel for room which convenient to your need wou...

This hotel has a great lobby and reception. However, our room was not clean properly. We could see hair (trimmed) on the carpeted floor. The toilet area was not clean properly and had urine smell. The shower door/glass wall was leaking. Breakfast buffet choices was great, but they need to work on the quality and taste. As for fresh juice, they should inform the customers if there will be limited amount of fresh juices for breakfast.
Kids' play (aquatic area) is like a family spa area. The male-only and female-only spas are great and they have great services.
Housekeeping is questionable and food quality/taste is so-so. I had better food quality and taste for the same star hotels in Taiwan.

Room Tip: Make sure you check the room floor and bathroom for cleanliness
