“Nice place to visit for good sea views and great seafood”
Reviewed 5 July 2014

This is the 2nd time I went to Chichin Island. The first time I traveled there by a car and missed lots of interesting things along the road. This time I took a bus to go there and got off at the Windmill park and walked along the sea shore to the light house.

The walk is simple and relaxing just a bit hot on the day. At the start of sea side route, we were surprised a large portion of the sea shore was destroyed such that a section close to the Windmill park were closed. Walking towards the lighthouse is about a 1 to 1 1/2 hours walk. We saw locals ride on bicycles and I think that's a good choice if you hate walking too much.

Basically the route is along the sea side and will go pass some parks, some shores that cannot swim and a beach when you're close to the light house side. What is great is that you can simple go back to the main road to find local food and market when you need as the route is just parallel to the road.

The bad thing is when I was there some constructions were still taking place probably to rebuild some destroyed parts.

Anyway, it's worth for a walk or ride for the view.

“Grab a bike and go!”
Reviewed 4 July 2014

Cycle around the ChiChin (Qijin) island and be amazed by the arts there. Good seafood too. You can rent the bicycle before you board the cruise boat and take it on boat with you.

“Good seaside getaway”
Reviewed 1 July 2014

The island isn't far away from Kaohsiung downtown, and it's a good getaway from the city to see the coastline esp. in the hot summer of southern Taiwan.

Apart from the long coastline and the black sands beach, it's recommended to walk up the hill to the lighthouse and the remains of the fortress. The lighthouse and the remains themselves aren't magnificent but you can get a nice view of the sea and the island from there. It should be a great place to see the sunset as well.

The black sand beach didn't seem great for swimming, but it's good to take a relaxing walk along the beach, and it's definitely a good place to see the sun getting down.

There're many seafood shops in the main street. Do some googling first before you pick one. You can get a good-value-for-money and special seafood there.

“Bike Rides etc.”
Reviewed 1 July 2014

We hired bikes but I recommend seeing the fort etc. first unless you have a chain. My partner loved the spicy deep friend squid on sale here! I had a gammy knee and so couldn't ride so got an electric bike which was fun. There was a neat sculpture park halfway down the bike route. Yeah... It's worth a scoot about!

“Qijin Island - a must go for the seafood”
Reviewed 12 June 2014

Seafood seafood cheap seafood.
For me that's enough motivation to go someplace. Not least when you can cycle there and explore the old tunnels (bring mosquito repellents) near the lighthouse and the old fort which have fantastic views of the island. The black sand beach is an interesting place to play with friends or loved ones too.
